Hi I'm Brandon

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an attorney for the California Department of Transportation, a husband, and a father of four beautiful children.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer and that His gospel allows us to gain happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come. When I was 18 years old, I struggled to know what path I should follow. I needed to know if the church was true so I began an intense study of the scriptures, including the Book of Mormon. Each night I would also earnestly pray, asking to know if the Book of Mormon is true and if Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. I knew that God would answer my prayers and let me know what I should do. The first night I prayed, the feeling came over me that it was true and that I always knew it was true. Not understanding, I continued to study and pray. I knew how foolish I could be, so I did not trust my own thoughts and understanding. Instead, I wanted an answer from the Lord. That answer came a couple of weeks later. I was again kneeling in prayer and becoming desperate to know how to live my life. A voice in my head said, "It is true, you have always known is true." I pleaded with the Lord, "You promised you would answer my prayer." At that point, the voice said, "I am answering your prayer." Warmth and comfort flooded over me. The doubt and despair I felt was replaced by peace, joy, and satisfaction. As I thought about what was happening, I remembered the scriptures that describe the Spirit as a still small voice that speaks to our heart and minds. He is also the Comforter, whose fruits are peace and joy. I realized at that moment that God was speaking to me through the Holy Ghost, testifying to me that the Church is true. Since then, I have tried to live my life in accordance with the gospel. It brings me indescribable joy and happiness and provides the understanding of why we are here, so that I can face life's challenges with hope and faith.

How I live my faith

I try to see others as sons and daughters of God. I treat them with respect and honesty. I enjoy learning about them -- their interests, desires, and challenges. I especially enjoy serving others and encouraging them to achieve their potential. At church, I am an instructor in our men's organization where I have the opportunity to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and the words of his prophets. We discuss how the gospel can help us to be better men, husbands, fathers, and citizens.
