Hi I'm Chris Jones

I am a military veteran. I am a convert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Wyoming and Montana, and I am a military veteran who served in Germany and Kuwait. I have had many hobbies, including creating artwork, playing musical instruments, practicing judo, biking, amateur radio, photography, reading the Scriptures, writing, and learning. My interests are psychology, science, and medicine. I have two undergraduate degrees, one in biology and one in psychology, and earned a Master of Science in Psychology. My goal is to go to medical school to become a physician. I have been through many, many different churches and religions searching for the Truth throughout my life. I was baptized and confirmed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in March of 2013 and am a convert. I am married to a wonderful man, also a member of the Church. I received my Temple Endowment in March of 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

While growing up, I always searched for the Truth about God. From the time I can remember, I wanted to know that I was going to be with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ after I died and that I was going to be forgiven for my sins. I went through many churches and religions searching for the answers and did not find them. Finally, I prayed one day while in deep distress about my past sins, and the Holy Spirit gave me the answer I was looking for. I talked to my husband and had him call the Missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for me immediately. I took the lessons from the Missionaries and, having read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know that it was true, wanted to be baptized into Jesus Christ's true Church on Earth. I felt such a cleansing from my sins and a relief when I was baptized, and I now have the Holy Ghost to comfort and reveal the truth of things to me since I have been confirmed and received that gift from Heavenly Father. I know that I am forgiven and I know that I will spend eternity with my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I know the Book of Mormon is true and I know that this Church is true. That is why I am a Mormon. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the Scriptures, helping others, setting an example, praying often, and striving to be like the Savior Jesus Christ. It is difficult most of the time due to my Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but it is a worthwhile fight. My faith has lifted the burden of my mental illness by helping me realize that Heavenly Father loves me and the Lord Jesus Christ died for me, even in my severely broken state. I am a Ward Missionary and I love it! The best experiences I can think of are sharing the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ with someone and sharing my testimony. It is not always easy, but Heavenly Father, through the Holy Spirit, works through me to help others, which is all I ever wanted to do in my life. Helping others and sharing the love and message of Jesus Christ is truly awesome.
