Hi I'm Jasmine

I grew up in China. I'm a runner and a dancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have a sister and 3 brothers that are such great examples to me. I'm half Cantonese and half white. I grew up in Asia; I have lived in China, Singapore, Taiwan, and America. I've traveled to over 20 countries, and it has been such a blessing to experience different cultures. I've really come to appreciate my heritage. I'm studying Chinese Language and Culture at BYU. I'm fluent in Chinese, but it's still a work in progress _ I love running, dancing, and working out.Although I'm not a trained dancer, I still love having fun and performing for others (you might have seen me on Chinese national television).I love listening to k-pop, and it's so much fun to dance along to the music. On top of that, I love cooking, especially for other people. I'm no master chef, but experimenting with different flavors and ingredients is magical. I love teaching and hope to work in international schools in Asia as an elementary school teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it brings me peace and joy. I used to be in a dark place, but the gospel has brought me genuine joy. The gospel gives my life purpose and a reason to endure difficult times. During times of trial, the gospel helps lighten my burdens and lets me know that I am never alone (Mosiah 24:14). The gospel has taught me to love others and lose myself in service. I'm not perfect, but through the gospel, I know that I can repent and receive forgiveness for my sins and mistakes--I can be cleansed from my past mistakes. The gospel helps me to keep moving forward and improve myself. The church and gospel provides everything that I need to return to my Father in Heaven and acquire eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission, sharing the gospel with others, and inviting them to come unto Christ. Prior to my mission, I volunteered at the Missionary Training Center working with missionaries who are preparing to serve in Chinese speaking missions. I helped missionaries meet with and teach lessons to Chinese/Taiwanese investigators.I'm was a Chinese tutor for friends who were prearing to serve in a Chinese-speaking mission. I volunteered at a school tutoring foreign students English. In church, my calling is to prepare the programs for Sacrament meeting.I also visit two sisters from my church and teach them gospel principles to help them grow spiritually.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Jasmine
The act of baptism is making a covenant, or promise, to our Heavenly Father commiting to Him that we accept Christ, take upon ourselves the name of Christ and follow His example. In return, our Heavenly Father promises to bless us and forgive us, as we are obedient and repent, and in the end, let us return to live with Him. We are baptized to become members of the church because it is imperative in order to return to live with our Heavenly Father (John 3:5). It is a cleansing of the spirirt for the remission of sins. We wish the best for new members, and the joys of being baptized are unforgetable. Show more Show less
