Hi I'm Sam Whitlock

I grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I love to play sports, ride motorcycles and hunt. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have two older sisters and two younger brothers. I love to spend time with them hanging out and playing sports. My favorite sports are tennis, skiing, frisbee, football, volleyball, and pretty much every sport. I love to ride motorcycles. I have a 1980 Honda CB650. I love the outdoors and would rather do anything outside than inside. Fishing, camping, whitewater rafting, canoeing, ice skating. If it happens outside, I probably love to do it. I also really enjoy to go hiking with my Mom and hunting with my Dad. Currently I am a missionary in the Washington DC North Mission, where I am preaching the Gospel in French.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate enough to grow up in a home where I was taught correct principles, but just like everyone else I had to find out if it was true for myself. Through prayer and study I have come to know that this church is true and that it is the way for us to return to God again. My daily scripture study strengthens my testimony more and more each time I read. The blessings that come from being part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints can be seen by all, but the real reason for being part of the church is the feeling inside. The only way to know for sure that this is the true church is to feel the Holy Ghost testify to you that it is true. Thats how I know, and that is how we invite everyone in the world to know.

How I live my faith

Right now I am a missionary so my life is sharing the gospel all day every day. I get up at 6:30am everyday, study the scriptures, then go out and preach the gospel. Alot of our time is spent looking for those that are willing to hear our message. Sometimes it's difficult because people slam the door in our faces without even hearing what we have to say. It can be discouraging at times, but its all worth it when you see someone make a great turn in their life and come closer to Jesus Christ. Its a privilage to be able to take the knowledge that I have and share it with others. I am so thankful that I have been blessed in my life to know that Christ's church is restored on the earth again. My decision to serve a mission was a natural outcome of living the gospel through out my life. I have seen lives change and so much happiness come from truth that is there for everyone to enjoy. I love being a missionary because I have the chance to help change peoples lives, and see them gain greater happiness.
