Hi I'm Colin Easton

I am a life long Mormon, my parents Thomas and Helen Easton joined the church in Airdrie, Scotland in February 1958.

About Me

I have been a member of the church for over 55 years, my parents having joined in February 1958. I am married with 4 children and 3 grand children. I have worked in the automobile industry all my life and I am a director with a car leasing company. I love researching my family history and so far have traced over 5,800 ancestors going back as far as 1635. I am a keen gardner and cook and like to spend time in my greenhouse. The real love of my life though is my wife, children and wonderful grand children who like nothing better than playing with Papa Colin.

Why I am a Mormon

My life has been wonderfully blessed by my church membership; growing up in a church that taught me great values from childhood, such as being a good citizen and member of my community and being honest in my dealings with my fellow men has helped me in my work life helping me develop relationships with clients that have lasted more than 30 years. My father passed away when I was 18 and he spoke to me 2 days before he died he told me how important it was to him to know that his family would be together forever as we had been 'Sealed' together in the London Temple. His testimony that day changed my life as he challenged me to follow in his footsteps and find a girl that I good marry in the Temple and enjoy the same blessings for us together with my children. To that end I sought out a great woman who has been just the most tremendous wife and mother and we were sealed together in the temple in August 1978. I know that God lives; that he sent his son Jesus Christ to give his life for mine that one day we could return to him from this life to dwell with him and our families forever. I am grateful that a 14 year old boy 'Joseph Smith' was curious to respond to a passage form James chapter 1 v 5 & 6 and took up its challenge and from it received a marvelous vision of the Father and the Son laying out for him the restoration of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ that was lost to man. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is this true church with a living prophet and apostles leading and directing us today to keep the commandments for in their is safety and peace. I love all that it brings to my life and the joy I have in this knowledge that I am known to God and that I am his son; what more can a man want than to be blessed with this knowledge and with a family that I am blessed to be a father too, who will be with me forever.

How I live my faith

Growing up in a church with no paid clergy you learn to work and serve along side your local members and friends. I have worked with the youth of the church most of my life and as a councillor in the Bishopric I have resposnsibilities for the young women, single adults, primary children up to 12 years old. I love our local church and the diversity of people and talents they bring to the fore and my life has been greatly blessed through associating with great men and women who love the Lord and try hard to live their lives in a selfless way through their dedicated service to me and my family.
