Hi I'm Courtney McKim

I've travelled the world. I'm preparing for a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an Aussie, a Mormon, and I love my life. I've spent the last 3 years working and travelling around Australia and America. I taught wakeboarding at summer camp in America, worked at a resort, and was a nanny in iconic Sydney harbour! I studied my degree while travelling and somehow managed to do my assignments in airports on layovers and anywhere I could find wifi! Summer is my favourite thing. I've somehow managed to avoid winter for the last couple of years and love going to the beach, wakeboarding and being active! I'm currently serving as a missionary for the church in the Philippines Laoag mission! Learning Tagalog is challenging and its often hard to communicate but I love the people and I love being here. I feel my Saviour's love more than ever as I teach His word to the people. I realise how blessed I am to have grown up with the true gospel in such a safe and happy home.

Why I am a Mormon

I always enjoyed church because I had friends and teachers that I liked and we always had fun. I could also see as I saw friends families fall apart through drinking, drugs and divorce that my family was safe as we strived to follow the teachings of the church. It wasn't until I was about 14 and I went to a big youth convention that I really gained my testimony. Seeing the effect that the church had in the lives of those around me made me realise the effect that it had on me. The Spirit confirmed to me that the church was true, and from then my faith only grew stronger. Throughout my life I have seen countless miracles and lives changed for the better as they live faithfully, and changed for the worse as they throw away the best thing that ever happened to them. I never thought I would be strong enough in my faith to be a missionary and bring others unto Christ, but I know without a doubt that this is Christ's true church on the Earth, and that He lead's and guides us. I cannot deny this and I want to do nothing else than to share this with the world and help as many people as I can. I love this Gospel. I am the happiest I have ever been because this is the strongest I have ever been in my testimony. You too can know of the truth if you read the Book of Mormon and pray to Heavenly Father to confirm the truth of it unto you. If you desire answers, you will receive them, just as I have.

How I live my faith

I attend church and institute lessons weekly, as well as participating in Family Home Evenings and family scripture study at home. I am blessed that all of my family members are strong in the church. Many of my friends do not have that same blessing, so we try to invite people into our home to share these times with us who otherwise would not be able to have these experiences. Family Home evening is a time where the family can get together and put away the distractions of the world. On a Monday night we will all gather together and have a lesson or watch a DVD, or go on a family activity somewhere that we can enjoy each others company. Most of my friends that I regularly spend time with are also members of the church, which makes it easy for us to make good decisions and have fun together in a way that doesn't compromise our standards. While being away from home, it was a lot harder to live the Gospel as I didn't have the same support around me as often. During these times, I could have easily given up and put the church aside, but the experiences I have had that have led me to the knowledge that this is the true church kept me going. It is never worth forgetting the things you know because it seems hard. These times away tested my faith and only confirmed to me further that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and this church is the only way back to him.
