Hi I'm Benson

I am a BYU Cougar. I have received a TBI(traumatic brain injury). I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the wonderful state of Idaho. My family is one of the most important parts of my life. I have five siblings - three younger and two older. My mom and dad have and always will be there for me. I love to stay in shape and read books! Snowboarding in the winter or biking in the summer are two of my favorite things to do! Although I don't play any instruments or sing, I love music! I love to enjoy others talents by listening and dancing to music. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University and am proud to be a Cougar! As of right now, I am not exactly sure on what I want to major in. The general field of psychology interests me a lot and is a very appealing option! I have been called to serve in the New Zealand Wellington Mission! I report to the MTC on July 18, 2013.

Why I am a Mormon

I am an active member of the LDS church because of the love that God has blessed my life with. I was baptized when I was eight years old and remained an active member ever since! In the summer of 2011, some friends and I were involved in a tragic car accident that took the lives of the driver and the other passengers. I was sent to the hospital and underwent brain surgery. I had received a traumatic brain injury and was not expected to fully recover. After seven weeks in the hospital, five more weeks of outpatient therapy, and about two years since the accident, I have recovered almost completely! Not only have I healed from this injury, but I have done so without as much pain as was expected. Upon being released from the hospital, I was given a proscription pain medication and was told that I would more than likely experience much pain - mostly through headaches. I can honestly say that I have gone almost two years with no serious headache that required a pain pill. I have not taken one of the proscription pills given to me! Was this intense healing and lack of pain because of my own strength? Not at all! This healing came from my loving Father in Heaven through His Son, even my Redeemer, Jesus Christ. This event, along with many others, has softened my heart enough to allow the Holy Ghost to testify to my spirit that our Savior lives and that the LDS church holds His restored Gospel on the earth! I know this to be true and am, therefore, a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I am an active member of my ward's Priest quorum(boys from ages 16-18). Our group is frequently serving those in our community. I try my hardest to be an example of good behavior in all the community activities that I participate in.
