Hi I'm Zach

I grew up in Calgary, love life and try my best everyday to live it to its fullest. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Calgary loving the outdoors and all the recreational activities that I can participate in around the city. Growing up I enjoyed being outside exploring my community on my bike. I am the oldest of 4 children in my family. During my time growing up my family made many fond memories together such as going fishing, camping, wake boarding, water skiing, swimming and tubing in the summers in saskatchewan. In the other parts of the year that we were there we hunted, went skiing and sledding. I played sports in my communities and schools such as soccer, baseball, volleyball, wrestling, football and rugby. I like working out and getting my body into shape. I graduated high school and am currently working in construction preparing to serve a mission in the England, Leeds mission for 2 years for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I want to, not because I have to. I am so grateful for the church and how it has blessed my life. No matter what our situation is, I have always had and still have the decision to be a member or not. The gospel of Jesus Christ and the church have influenced me for good and helped me to build strong values and core beliefs. I am grateful for my membership in the church and continue to follow its teachings because I know this Gospel to be true. I love the principals and values that it has set in me and the man that it has helped me to become. I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who desires for us to return to him and through the atonement of his son, we can all have that chance. I know that God wants to hear our prayers and that when we do pray to him, he will bless us. Whether it be comfort for our hearts and minds at troubling times, or to help us learn truths and principals through the Holy Ghost. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God in addition to the Bible. I know that the words within those covers were written by real people who lived on the earth and those who will look within the covers of the Book of Mormon will find what they need. I know that when you read the Book of Mormon and earnestly ask God if those words are true, he will answer to those that ask. I know that President Thomas S Monson is the living prophet on the earth today and support him as such. I know that Joseph smith was a prophet of God and that he saw God and Jesus Christ. I know the power of the priesthood is a real power and that when we call upon Gods power and are worthy to wield it, he will bless us and those that we serve. I know that families are eternal and that this life is not the end. I know that there is a life to come when we will be reunited with loved ones who have passed on and if we are worthy we will be able to live in heaven with God and Jesus Christ once more. I know this Gospel to be true. I know it, I live it, I love it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in the way act, speak, and work everyday. As a young man you are often called upon by other members of the church to participate in service activities. You learn not only to work hard but enjoy working and serving others. You learn that the greatest joys in life come from making other smile and their lives easier. Growing up I went to public school and many of the other kids noticed that there was something different about me and the way I presented myself. They would often question me as to why I did not curse, lived the law of chastity and kept the word of wisdom. I explained to those people when asked that I knew that obeying my Heavenly Fathers commandments made me have joy and mad my life easier because I was living what I knew to be right. Another addition to growing up in the church is the opportunities to accept and receive callings. Throughout the years I have been Cub leader, Primary Substitute, on a Stake youth Council and a Regional Scouting council. In all of these callings I presented myself in a way that I knew would be upright before the lord and pleasing to my father in Heaven. Often times I was told growing up that I would be looked at as an example by those around me and that if they were not members of the church that people would sometimes get their ideas and opinions of the church through looking at my example of being a follower of Christ. I was often on athletic teams and committees that would have their meetings, practices or games on Sundays. I did not attend these and this sometimes for me was a hard decision to do. I would often have the championship game or a important meeting discussing the future of the groups I was apart of, and because I did not attend I had many people look at my choice and question if it was the best thing for me and my future. In summary, I live my faith in the way I know to be right. I live the commandments, keep and honour my promises I have made, and love every moment of my life.
