Hi I'm Sharon

I grew up in England. I am self-employed and a full-time wife and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was brought up in the Church. I currently work from home compiling engineering documents. I have a wonderful husband and we have 3 beautiful daughters. I love to spend time with my family and friends, watch movies, and read fantasy books. JRR Tolkien has always been a favourite of mine. Recently I have picked up some of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels - great stories and so funny!. I love the classics too, Jane Austen, George Orwell, Jules Verne. If only I had more time to read!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was always brought up in the Church, for which I am truly grateful, there came a time in my youth when I needed to know for myself if whether all I had been taught was true and right. I believed that it was with all my heart, but I did not have a spiritual witness for myself that would change my belief to a sure knowledge. So I followed the challenge given at the end of the Book of Mormon which is to read the Book of Mormon, then ask God if it was right. I knew what others would say if I asked them, so my Heavenly Father was the one I needed to speak to. The challenge also comes with a promise, that if you ask sincerely, you will receive an answer by the power of the Holy Ghost. I actually did not receive an answer straight away, but I believed so strongly that I kept on asking. The answer did come, and it came when I wasn't expecting it. I was telling someone about my faith and how much it meant to me and as I did so I felt the most amazing joy and gratitude welling up inside me. I knew that my prayer was answered. I was so happy and grateful, and still am. This was the first of a lifetime of experiences that the Lord has blessed me with. I constantly turn to him and am blessed everyday as I pray and try to do what's right. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the true church on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I am currently involved in the youth programme of the Church, and have been for about a year now. On Sundays we have lessons with the 12-17 young women, which is a gospel led discussion on the principles and doctrines of the Church. We have a great time discussing and sharing experiences that we have gained along lifes journey. Once a week we organise and run an activity for the youth, ranging from sports, service projects, cooking, crafts, music nights, xbox dance nights, games nights, or whatever they choose to do! I really enjoy being with the young people of the Church. As well as reminding me of my youth, it helps me to look for the potential in each one of them and help them reach that in any way I can.
