Hi I'm Mandy

I'm a mum, I'm a French teacher and I'm a Mormon

About Me

Hi, I'm first and foremost a mum. I always wanted to be married and have children and always wanted to be a teacher from the first day I started nursery school! Being a mum is the most important thing in my life. My children are my world and I love to spend family time with them - playing board games, snowtubing, going for walks or just being silly and having fun together. I have four children and they are growing up way too fast! I am a French teacher too. I teach children from age 4 to 16 and find it very rewarding to see the progression and enthusiasm in my pupils. It is important to love what you do. I lived in France for a year as part of my studies and this gave me a great love of France and all things French. I feel that by having an attitude of gratitude every day, we can have a positive outlook on life and make the most of every day. If ever a spare moment exists, I love to do crafts - scrapbooking the everyday moments and milestones in life, cross stitching, knitting, lacemaking and anything crafty. I also like to appreciate the beauty of the world around us and enjoy nature walks - although I'm a little bit scared if a bird flies too close to me!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a testimony that this is the right way to live. I believe in following Christ and trying to be like him and trying to be the best person we can be. I believe in helping others whenever we can. I love to have the guidance of the scriptures and personal revelation in my life. It makes me feel good to know I am following the teachings of Christ and it all makes sense to me. We all have trials in our lives but I know these are to make us stronger and we grow from them. Reading the scriptures and knowing what God wants for us helps me in parenting my own children. He wants the best for us in the same way as we want the best for our own children. He must feel frustrated when we don't make the right choices, the same way as we feel frustrated if we feel our children have made a 'wrong' choice. I know that the church is the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth and that we have a living Prophet whose counsel we can continue to follow today. I am grateful for the knowledge that I have and I hope I can be the person God wants me to be

How I live my faith

I think it is important to have a say in what goes on around you and so I'm a school governor in the local primary school. I pray every day to help me overcome any challenges I have in my life, whether these be big or small, and to help me to understand others and how I may be able to help them. I give thanks to God for all the things he blesses me with each day. I have been a member of the church since getting baptised at the age of 18 and, although I had been attending church from the age of 8 with my neighbour, how much more meaningful it became when I could get baptised and receive extra blessings in my life. I find that it helps to make decisions in your life in partnership with Heavenly Father and that He helps us to do the right things. I hope that my children will one day know for themselves the importance of these things. At the moment, I have the opportunity to work with the women of the church, helping in the organisation of activities and lessons for them. Previously I worked with the youth, which I also loved. I live a healthy life by keeping the Word of Wisdom, where we learn to keep our bodies pure by eating the right foods and not drinking tea, coffee, alcohol etc. By following our Prophet's counsel, we can know how the Lord wants us to live in these days.
