Hi I'm Kirby Ramsey

I grew up in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area and spent 30 years in the US Army Reserve.

About Me

Went to Milan High School in Michigan, then followed with a BBA degree at Eastern Michigan University when we were still the Hurons, :( I joined the US Army Reserve after graduating high school and kept with that and ROTC in college. After a two year absence to do missionary work in Seattle, WA, I continued with the Army. Was called to active duty twice, the first time in 1991 for Operation Desert Storm, and then again in 2008 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Found the gal that was to be my wife in 2005 and we have been married for 16 years this june 2013. Our son attends a local elementary school near where we live.

Why I am a Mormon

Initially I didn't want to be baptized because I thought I was having too much fun sinning as an 8-year-old. Soon after, I realized that God had a plan for me and that the path to reaching that plan was the guidance and teachings of His gospel of Jesus Christ as restored to the earth through his chosen prophet. I didn't come to this decision lightly, and have had many many opportunities and events that confirmed that my choice had been the correct one.

How I live my faith

I am active with my local congregation's mens group leadership, and I also teach Sunday School for 8-9 year olds. I love the challenge of keeping their attention and role-playing biblical heroes and notable scenarios. Making the stories come alive and putting each child in the scene helps them realize that this actually happened long ago, and this is what it meant, and this is how it affects their lives today. My wife is not a Mormon, and sometimes has conflicting thoughts, but often thinks its OK that my son and I attend church on Sunday, read children's scripture stories every evening, and pray to God daily. I have found a renewed respect in the idea of Faith in God and in the scriptures. Spiritual trials and challenges have helped me to keep reaching for what I really want and not settling for what is at hand.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?
