Hi I'm Lori

I grew up in Las Vegas. I teach at a private Jewish school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Las Vegas my whole life with the exception of attending BYU-Idaho to obtain my degree in Elementary Education. I never thought that I would return home and find employment working in a private Jewish school, but I truly enjoyed the experience! I am married and a mother to two boys. I love to spend time with my family and treasure quality time with my husband. I have recently gotten into extreme couponing and love the money-saving hobby! I enjoy good music and I will never turn down an opportunity to eat Mexican food.

Why I am a Mormon

Everybody has their own burdens to bear. When I was young, I did not grasp what difficult trials could do to a person's very foundation of belief. It was difficult for me to see others not hang on to what was good. I clearly remember a time when I was in school and a friend was struggling with some choices he had made. Another friend at the time had said to him, "I may not always understand why I live the Church standards. But when I look around at other possibilities, I have already decided that this is the best thing for me and I will never let go of that!" I had not thought of the Gospel quite like that before. It struck me that I agreed. The gospel of Jesus Christ has always been true to me. I have never doubted its teachings. However, I believe it was at that time that I had to look around and realize that I also knew it was true because it made the most sense to me and I did not find other roads of life to be worthwhile. I have had my own fair share of trials. I know that if I endure to the end, I will see my family again in Christ's presence. But I must first live my life as the Lord would want me to live before I can see that happy day again.

How I live my faith

I have spent the last few months dedicating time to the Cub Scout program. I was intimidated at first, as this can be a huge task, but I have come to love the Scouting program and I love seeing the progress the young boys make as they learn. When I can, I like to help out where ever I might be needed. I grew up taking piano lessons, so should others need me, I try to fill in as best I can. I love to serve and help others. I believe that helping others, even in the smallest of ways, is what Christ truly wanted us to do while here on Earth.
