Hi I'm Jake

I am from Redmond, Washington. I studied at BYU-Idaho and am currently serving as a missionary in the South Carolina mission.

About Me

I have worked at the grocery store in my family for over four years now. It has been great helping teach me how to work hard and how to work well with others. I love to play the guitar, I took lessons growing up and taught lessons to young kids the summer before I left for college. I completed one semester at BYU-Idaho before returning home to prepare for my mission. I am now serving a full-time mission in the South Carolina mission, teaching in the Spanish language.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because my parents have been members since the age of eight. I too was baptized at the age of eight. My testimony developed as I grew up watching my parents be faithful members of the church. My testimony wavered however, in my teen years because, while I had seen blessings from the Church, I had not done enough to know for sure. I decided to truly find out for myself if this is the truth. I started by reading the Book of Mormon and asked in prayer to know if it is true. I received an answer and I know without a doubt that the Book of Mormon is true. The answer didn't come in one day but it came through diligent effort. I now know that Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us and that His Son, Jesus Christ is my Redeemer. I have felt the Holy Ghost testify of these things to me so that I can know that they are true. I love this Gospel so much, and I have felt the happiness that comes with it. That is why I am consecrating two years to serve the Lord as a missionary; to bring this message of happiness and love to the people of South Carolina.

How I live my faith

I study the scriptures daily. It's amazing how there is always something new to learn when you prayerfully search the scriptures. As I preach what I study to those who do not already have the knowledge of the gospel I see light enter their lives as they begin to make the Savior a part of their life.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Jesus Christ is the center of everything that we do in the Church. We believe that He is the literal Son of God and suffered so that each and everyone of us can return to live with our Father in Heaven again. He is the Head of the Church and guides it through His prophet today. Through Him the guilt of sin can be taken away and we can be made whole again. Show more Show less
