Hi I'm Gaye

I'm a recent convert. I write books and contribute articles to various blogs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been blessed with two children (boys). I've had many jobs, including teacher, State Park Ranger, coffee house barista, waitress, English language interpreter for French groups, day care worker and writing.

Why I am a Mormon

My Mom was Catholic, my Dad was Jewish. They didn't stress any one correct way to worship, only that there was one God of everyone and that he sent his Beloved Son to Earth to suffer and die for our sins and provide the way home. I had an unmistakeable wake-up call when I was in my 40's (I'm 61) and knew at that moment the true nature of God and that I had a real choice as to how to live the rest of my life. I stuck with that choice. One day, two missionaries knocked on my door and my intuition told me to let them in. I was blown away with their lessons. Everything I was hearing sounded so right!I realized I had been living the Mormon faith all along. Since my Baptism and Confirmation, I'm experiencing more clarity, more focus and more joy than ever! I do not "think" this church is true, I do not "believe" this church is true, I KNOW this church is true!!

How I live my faith

I attend Sacrament Meetings and classes on Sundays. My calling is for Family History and I have really enjoyed helping others find out about their ancestors! You never know who you might be related to! I've done a Baptism for the Dead at our beautiful Temple here in Mesa, AZ. What an awesome experience! I try to make sure I help at least one person everyday to feel better.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

The Mormon faith puts great emphasis on the family, mortal and immortal. As noted in the Official Church Answer, those in the next phase of life are completely free to choose to accept the proxy baptism or not. This is a free service and one that is geared towards creating an eternal family unit. Knowing that you will be with your loved ones in Heaven forever is a great comfort and removes much of the angst when a loved one passes away. Show more Show less
