Hi I'm Hailey!

I grew up in Colorado, spent a year at BYU-Idaho, and soon I'll be going to Yakima Washington to serve a mission. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I have a passion for learning everything. The reason I haven't chosen my major in college yet is not because I don't like anything enough, it's because I like EVERYTHING too much. I think I learned how to truly love to learn as a teen, when I chose to use online courses instead of public school to get my education. I may not have gotten past geometry (embarrassing...I know.) but having free reign in my education before college actually prepared me much more than I thought it would for getting a degree. I love reading books of all kinds, especially historical fiction and most all nonfiction. I enjoy learning how to play the piano better, how to sing better, how to do genealogy, crafts, workouts, sewing, writing, and especially new brilliant April Fools pranks. I guess I also have a passion for being the best person I can possibly be. I am constantly striving to be an improved version of myself. I never want to lose my passion, and I want to learn how to use it to truly make a difference in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it gives me joy. My lifestyle and living close to the Holy Spirit help me to be happy. I am also a Mormon because I love God and show Him that I love Him by following His commandments. Being a 'Mormon' is a choice I consistently make every day though it is not always easy. I also cannot deny what I have felt in my mind and heart: That this gospel is the true, restored gospel of Jesus Christ on earth today! I know with conviction that the Book of Mormon is true, that it testifies of Christ, that Jesus Christ has paid for my sins and that He loves me eternally. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, that the authority of God is on the Earth today, now, in form of the Priesthood, held by righteous members of Christ's church. I'm a Mormon. I know it, I live it, and I LOVE IT!!

How I live my faith

Living my faith is simple, but it is also very difficult. Most of all, it's worth it. Of all the things I'm most passionate about, it is my faith which takes the prize. My faith is a lifestyle- it's in all the little actions I do every single day like praying every morning and night, reading the scriptures every day, and upholding high standards every day in environments which may or may not support me or approve of my standards. I try to always keep my mind filled with virtuous thoughts, and I often pray to God in my mind. Even during menial things, like driving the car or cleaning my room I try to listen to talks by our Prophets, uplifting music and I also take advantage of the silence to pray. Of course, I am not so good that I allllwwwaaayyyss do these things, and always feel good about my standing with my faith, but I sure do try. My religion is every single day, every single moment. And my standards are already determined! The deepest, happiest feelings I have ever felt in my life have come when I have lived closest to the ideals of my faith. That is why I am going to serve a mission-I want others to feel what I've felt, and to know what I know!
