Hi I'm Trenton Griffiths

I'm a kid, a student, a friend, an athlete, but most importantly, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I'm going to Utah State University trying to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life. I like to read, learn, swim, run, and do anything that makes me feel alive! I have four siblings and a collection of nieces and nephews that always make going home an adventure. I always try to be optimistic, sometimes it's pretty hard, I believe that a life well lived is one where the good times incredibly outnumber the bad.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church and so I didn’t really think much of it until I was about seven and was preparing to get baptized. Then it hit me that the gospel is all about becoming better, more God like, people. One thing that I have always struggled with is pride. As I grew up I began to become rather self-reliant. I thought myself to be fairly smart and did not like to rely on others for help because people had often failed me in the past. This continued up until I graduated from high school, where I had achieved quite a bit of success, both academic and athletic by myself. These habits kept with me through almost a month of college. By the time I went home for general conference I was miserable, that month was the hardest thing I had ever done and I was dreading going back to school. As I listened to conference though I realized that as I stopped relying on people I had also stopped relying on the Lord. This was an alarming realization! As I went back to school I began to right my wrong and started to pray, I prayed that I might learn to rely on Him more and that I would be able to be humbled. Striving to live this way extremely difficult, but the results were incredible! This is when I understood that God wants us to succeed in our lives, that he wants us to be happy, and that he wants us to be with Him again. I know that we all have weaknesses; I know that through the gospel we can make these weaknesses our strengths, and that we can repent of our sins through the atonement. I still struggle with pride and asking for help, but I know that the Lord will help me, that he loves me, and that he will never give up on me. That is why I am a Mormon, the peace and comfort that come from knowing this.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by through service. By doing simple things each day and by simply being there to help brings happiness into my life that I could experience no other way. During Christ’s ministry he was a great teacher, leader, and example to us. He was serving constantly and doing all that he could to help those in need, and by doing this he showed his love for all those he influenced. I believe that service is an act of love, and that it is the most pure love that we can share with people because it is the pure love of Christ. I love to serve and I love knowing that by serving others I am making a difference in the world and possibly in someone’s life. I know that serving as well as loving others is what Jesus would want us to do and I know that by doing these things I will be able to have the spirit, and all of it blessings in my life.
