Hi I'm Audrey

I am a student at Snow College. I am preparing to serve a mission in Guatemala. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am in my second semester of college right now. I really enjoy school and living with room mates! In high school, I ran cross country and was in a club called Peer Leadership Team. What we did was went around to elementary schools in our area and taught 6th graders the peer refusal skills to help them get out of tough peer situations and stay drug and violence free. I took a greenhouse management and floral design class my senior year and learned that I love doing floral design. At the end of my senior year, I began making and selling boutineers and corsages for school dances, and I absolutely loved doing that! In college you get pretty busy, but when I do have time to relax I like to play Just Dance and watch movies! I love my friends, and I love when I get to go home for the weekend and spend time with my family. My family is always doing fun things together. I love music; I am passionate about it. I love finding new songs and singing along to the radio. I also love food, and one of my favorite things to relieve stress is cooking and baking. I love finding and trying great new recipes! I am preparing to leave to Guatemala on a mission for the Church in August! I have always wanted to serve a mission, and I am so excited for the opportunity to share the good news of the gospel with the Guatemalan people!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because of the peace and direction it brings into my life. It truly is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I know this through the gift of prayer and the power of the Holy Ghost. When I live the standards of the church, I am happy. I know that I can be with my family forever through the great plan of happiness God has created for each of us. This and other precious truths have been brought to my knowledge through the teachings of the gospel. Through my testimony and faith in Jesus Christ, I receive confidence and trust in Him, comfort, and power to overcome life's temptations and struggles so that I can be the best person I can be. I know that without Heavenly Father's plan for me and the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I could not overcome my weaknesses and become truly the best me I could be. The gospel of Jesus Christ provides the way to accomplish that. I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ provides happiness, direction, and purpose into my life, and it provides the way to be the best me I can possible be.

How I live my faith

In College, the unmarried LDS students attend a "singles ward." The singles ward is always doing fun things, and it's a chance to meet new people your age with the same values. Every woman in the ward gets assigned to be what is called a "visiting teacher." We each, with a partner or companion, are assigned 2 or 3 girls in our apartment complex to visit once a month and become friends with them so that they know that someone in the ward cares about them and they have a friend to call who can help them in time of need. It has been a fun and great experience to be able to make new friends with both my companion and the two girls I get to visit, and it's great to know that I am helping them in some small way. I also get to attend Institute. The Church has an Institute program at most every college usually very close to campus. I am able to go there on Tuesdays and Thursdays between my other classes and take gospel classes that broaden my understanding and teach me more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love my teachers, and the people in my class give great insight that really helps me in my everyday life. The institute always has fun free activities that everyone can go to! Oftentimes they'll have free food and fun things to do! Recently they had a date auction! It is so much fun to make new friends and talk with old friends and have good clean fun for free in a happy environment. I also am in the school's service club! I love finding new ways to serve others. I go to a retirement home close to campus once or twice a month to visit with a woman named Rillis. She is such a sweet lady; I know she is very lonely so she always appreciates my visits. Service makes me happy and helps me become more like my Savior Jesus Christ. He was constantly serving others, and it is a privilege we have to go out and serve wonderful children of God, which we all are.
