Hi I'm Alyssa

I'm a Mormon and always have been. I love learning, playing, working, and living this beautiful life I've been given.

About Me

I am a student at Brigham Young University in Provo Utah where I am studying Communication Disorders. I love to play tennis, draw, snowboard, hike, take naps, and meet new people. I am the only daughter in my family and love to make them laugh. Right now I am preparing to serve a mission in the Wellington New Zealand mission! I cannot wait to get out in the field and start teaching people about the gospel I love!

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents are Mormon so I was born into this church. I grew up learning about Jesus and loving him as a friend. When I was young I trusted in my parents' testimonies of this church but over time I came to know for myself that this is what I want in my life. I know this church is the only church that has the fullness of Christ's gospel and I know that by living the standard taught here I will be able to find true happiness. Some people don't have any religion in their life and I don't know how they can do it. I rely on Christ every day to help me get through trials, guide my decisions, and simple give me hope and a purpose for life.

How I live my faith

Right now I am in the middle of transferring my church records to my new ward but in my old ward down at college I was a Family Home Evening mother. For this calling I would plan with my partner (the FHE father) to have fun activities and spiritual lessons each Monday for a small group of people in our ward. We would have a 20 minute lesson and then play games, sports, do crafts, and many other things to get to know each other and have a break from school and studying. Before I was an FHE mother I was part of the presidency over the women in our ward. I helped teach lesson on Sundays, got to know each of the girls, and made sure they all felt included and loved. I love having ward callings because it gives me an opportunity to get out of my own bubble and help the people around me. I always learn so much about others and about myself and I become better each time I act like Jesus and put others before myself.
