Hi I'm Logan Alva

I´m from Florida. I´m serving as a missionary in Peru. I´m a Mormon.

About Me

I love art! My favorite forms are caligraphy and spray painting landscapes. Other than that I enjoy reading, skateboarding, and playing card games. I am the youngest (and in my opinion the favorite) in a family of 8. We live in a suburban town. When we arn´t arguing about the rules of a board game or what to cook for dinner we often go to the movie theaters, fishing from a boat or travel as a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family and many say thats why I am Mormon. And its true. Absolutely, 100% true. But that doesnt mean my parents decided for me. They didnt pressure me. Very much so no. I cannot recall a single moment in my life where I felt forced or even compelled by my parents to go to church, or read the Book of Mormon or Bible, or attend an activity of the church. But through their examples, their hope when grandma died, their endless patience and perserverence in my highschool rebelions and more than anything their love spoken in word as well as deed. I know the Book of Mormon with the unique testimony of the Bible to be guides in a world full of questions. I know the Church is restored on the principles that Christ ordained. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God to do the work God wanted him to do; to say the words God wanted him to say. And all of these things help me to know whats most important to me; that Christ lives; that Christ loves me even though in this life I may never see Him or hear his audible voice. Even though Im imperfect He sees something worth not giving up on or casting aside. And that gives my life the greatest purpose I think anyone can imagine.

How I live my faith

I am currently a voluntary missionary serving in Lima Peru. It is common for young adults of our faith to serve a two year missio. But where we serve and with whom we serve is assigned to us by a living prophet in accordance with divine revelation. Which was very true in my case because before the mission I knew little more than Peru being a country with Llamas in it. But through serving people make humble homes and trying to carry and represent the message that Christ carried I have learned to love this country. Although I wouldnt change these past two years for any two years in college or working in an office, I am planning on attending college and working when I arrive home in April.
