Hi I'm Emily

I'm a sister, friend, missionary, and young woman of infinite worth.

About Me

I am a home-grown, full-blown Oregonian. I love rain and rainbows, sunsets and sunshine. I dream, I dance, I play, I read, I study, I do hard things, and I love to learn! Sometimes it feels like a magnetic force is pulling me towards those most soul-streching experiences that are entirely out of my comfort zone--from simple things like talking to a discouraged stranger, and teaching Sunday School, to earning Valedictorian and becoming a full-time missionary. I find the greatest joys in life by helping people and serving the God who created and loves me.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up as a young woman in today's world, it is easy to feel overlooked, unattractive, and even worthless. As an imperfect human being, it is also easy to recognize one's weaknesses, and to become frustrated and nearly reach the point of giving up when trying to fix them on his or her own. Even in my childhood, I could recognize that. Having grown up in the church, though, early on I was given a source of hope--a source of strength in the knowledge of who I was, even a daughter of the Most High God. Because I know who I am, that He loves me, and can help me and heal me, I can find worth in myself, and the strength and joy to keep going. I'm a Mormon because I know the church is true! I'm a Mormon because I know that God's plan for us to follow him is the only true way to happiness. I'm a Mormon because I love my Savior, and I want to serve him.

How I live my faith

My faith has affected every aspect of who I am. Because of my faith in Jesus Christ, I can be freed from my fears and have peace by trusting in him. Because I know that the atonement of Jesus Christ is a real and enabling force in my life, I get to rejoice every day in the hope of returning to him. In reality, it is the reason for the smile on my face and the spring in my step! One of the ways I live my faith is by seeking to serve and lift those around me. As a Human Development Major, I desire to spend the rest of my life and eternity helping, teaching, and serving God's children. I look forward with anticipation to the day that I will raise my own children, and share with them the glad message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I also desire to spread this message abroad to as many as will listen to the words of truth.
