Hi I'm Tess Russell

I love trying new things, I love life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm about to go on a mission to Lyon, France! I am so grateful for this chance to go and devote myself to the work of God. While my life has not been perfect, it has been overflowing with blessings from God. He has given me a loving family, a beautiful world to live in, and a chance to become better in this life. I love to read, sing, and hunt for the beautiful. I like to think that this life is like a treasure hunt to find all the most beautiful and worthwhile things. God helps us to find what is beautiful in the most eternal way.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the gospel. I know that it is Christ's true church. I know this, not because it's all I have known, not because my parents say it is true, but because I have felt the spirit testify to me. One cannot know the gospel is true through facts, or statistics. One can only know it is true by the Spirit. If we pray, read the scriptures, and strive to become closer to Christ, we can all have that Spirit confirm to us the truth. I have felt the Spirit countless times and I know this church is true because of that.

How I live my faith

I'm at the moment preparing to leave on a mission, but I have also been in several Young Women's presidencies, a Singles Ward relief society secretary, and a primary teacher (twice). I have loved each of my callings and, even though I hope I helped others during them, I believe I grew the most because of them. If treated with respect and effort they deserve, they can become some of the best experiences of our lives. I know my mission will be the same. :)

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Tess Russell
Mormons are not required to serve missions. Young men are encouraged to go and young women and older couples are given the chance to. Even though it is not required I would suggest that everyone should go on a mission if the Spirit prompts them. It is an irreplaceable experience of my life and I can say, even though it was intensely difficult at times, I loved every minute of it. Show more Show less
