Hi I'm Rebecca

I'm a trainee Primary School Teacher, a wife, a sister and a daughter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Nottingham but moved to Leeds for university where I met my lovely husband. We now live near Wakefield and are both still students at university. I have a degree in Law and French and I am currently training to become a Primary School Teacher. I am one of 6 children and my husband is one of 5 - I love being part of a big family! In my spare time I like to spend time with friends and family, watch films, read and exercise.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel blessed to have faithful parents who took me to church and taught me true principles. But that is not why I am a Mormon. I am Mormon because I put it to the test. I read the Book of Mormon, I lived the principles of the gospel, I prayed for answers and I felt a calm, beautiful spirit reassure me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. It has brought so much happiness and peace to my life through both the good and the difficult times. I am so grateful for prayer which allows us to communicate with our Father in Heaven. I know that He listens and has answered my prayers as I have sought truth. My testimony of this church is not something which has come overnight, but it has been built bit by bit over my short lifetime. As I live the gospel I am blessed with small but sacred witnesses that it is right. As I attend church I am uplifted and encouraged to be better which helps me to draw closer to God. My life is not perfect but the knowledge that I can rely on my Heavenly Father for support and guidance brings me great happiness.

How I live my faith

My faith is the biggest and best part of my life - it shapes me as a person and affects the choices I make. I would like to think that it is not just something I do, it is who I am. I am so grateful for a belief in a loving Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. The knowledge that I am on earth for a reason, to be tested, to have a family, to stay faithful to God's teachings gives me purpose. I am so grateful to know that I am a daughter of God and that this life is not the end, that I can return to live with Him one day and with my eternal family. This knowledge shapes my life as I try to live how I should and to push myself to be better each day. It gives me peace and hope to know that my Father in Heaven has a plan for me and wants me to succeed, and that when I make mistakes I can be forgiven. I love the community that we have at my local church and the way we all try to work together. At the moment I work with the teenage girls at church, teaching lessons and planning activities but really being taught by them. It is incredible to watch young girls of such faith and to see how they are willing to stand out from the crowd and be different because of what they believe, even when that is not easy to do. I know the only reason they have the courage to be different and keep their high standards is because they have testimonies that they are daughters of God and of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is faith?

Faith believing in something which you cannot see, but you still know is true. Faith requires action. When we act on what we believe to be true, the Holy Ghost will confirm its truth through spiritual promptings and faith grows. Faith can start as small as simply a desire to believe.
