Hi I'm Deborah

I love being a mother. I homeschool my children. I am a doctor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a mother. It is the joy of my life. I have some amazing children and love to see them learning new things about this beautiful world on which we live. We homeschool our children. It is such a privilege to be with them as they discover new things and develop a love of learning. We enjoy many outdoor activities together as a family - especially camping, bush-walking, and body-boarding. I play the flute and dabble with the piano so we also enjoy music together. I also work part-time as a doctor in general practice. I have a special interest in holistic and integrational medicine which seeks to combine conventional with complimentary medicine and lifestyle interventions. I enjoy photography and blogging in my spare time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought-up in a family who were active in the Mormon faith. But that is by no means a give-in that I would simply continue to be a practicing Mormon. As I matured and grew older, I had to question all those values and ideas that had been taught to me during my early years and balance these out with the other values and ideas I had been exposed to outside of my faith. As I read the scriptures I have had numerous experiences of feeling the spirit testify the words I have read are true. I have also felt the fruits of the spirit as I live the principles of my faith. Living the gospel has never failed to bring me love joy and peace - even during times of trial such as the death of a family member or unemployment (Galatians 5:22-23).

How I live my faith

Mostly - I live my faith by being a mother. Through the soft words I sing as my children lay their heads on their pillows at night. Through the warm meals I serve to fill empty tummies. Through the clean washing I fold to clothe their little bodies. Through the words that fill the ears and hearts as I read them bedtime stories. Through the wonder that fills their minds as we explore and discover this beautiful world together. Outside of my family I live my faith by serving in the womens organisation at our church and teach a class on Sundays. Through my work I seek to live my faith by being a caring and empathetic doctor.
