Hi I'm Debbie Fontes

I am a Mormon and love the learning process of living like a Mormon everyday of my life.

About Me

I love the peacefulness of the mountains and trees, I love the songs of birds. I love the sounds and smells of the ocean. Many things in nature bring peace to my heart. I have a great family that is made up of many people. My husband, 4 boys, and my niece and nephew. I like to keep my hands busy. I love to work with wood; cutting, sanding, hammering, painting, and building. I also love to work with fabric; taking a piece of fabric and turning it into something practical or beautiful is a fun challenge. I like to help individuals with special needs. I have a brother with special needs that taught me at a young age to have empathy for others with physical and mental challenges.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon at the age of 10 years old. I am not sure that I understood a whole lot about the gospel then, but I certainly knew that it was a good thing. I could feel that for myself. I love being a Mormon because I feel that I know some of what my purpose is. I feel that I am an important part of Heavenly Father's plan. I love having the Gift of the Holy Ghost. I need that gift of discernment, knowing/feeling what is right and wrong. I believe that we have a Father in Heaven. I believe that we are here on this earth to follow in the footsteps of our Savior Jesus Christ. To do as he did, to love and serve unconditionally and return to live with Heavenly Father and continue our service and existence in another stage of life. I feel that all that I am and do, is because of what I have learned through the gospel. I know I have much more to learn and understand more fully. I know that this is a process and I am grateful for a patient Heavenly Father, that knows I have great potential.

How I live my faith

I like to do service for others in the community. I look for service opportunities each day and usually find someone that can use my help. I feel that this is the easiest way for me to show I am following our Savior's example. I try to be honest and respectful with everyone I come in contact with. I know that by becoming a trusted and sincere friend or individual, I can best share the gospel by being and standing for what I know is right. I find that I can most easily share the gospel with others when I talk about my family and my relationship with my husband. When I talk of things we do like, going to church or having family home evening. I can talk of lessons, activities, or songs we have done. I can talk of service we have done for others, and my friends like to listen. When I talk of my relationship with my husband I share how we honor and respect each other, a how our relationship is for more than this time on earth. They like to listen and ask questions.
