Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Throughout the holy scriptures the Lord has commanded us to preach the gospel to all the world. God is our loving Heavenly Father. He loves us very much and wants what is best for us. He wants to grant us immortality and eternal life with our family members who also qualify. He sent his son Jesus Christ to establish his church and call prophets and apostles. We preach the Gospel not only because we have been commanded, but also because we have seen the blessings that come from living this gospel. It brings us great joy and true happiness. Therefore, we want to share this fullness of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ with all who will listen. So that they too may be able to rejoice in the blessings our Father provides. This is why we preach. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Oh yes indeed! The Bible is full of many valuable lessons. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as long as it is translated correctly. Our Church uses the original King James version of the bible. As a missionary I refer to the Bible frequently along with the Book of Mormon. I highly suggest that all men everywhere make scripture study a priority in their lives. Study the Bible as well as the Book of Mormon. They will enlighten your mind and spirit in countless ways. How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Modesty and chastity very related. When a man or woman dresses immodestly it gives Satan a chance to tempt others. When a boy sees a girl dressed immodestly it can be very hard to drive away the impure thoughts that the natural body creates do to seeing the immodestly dressed girl. Because of this it is harder for the boy to resist taking it a step further and breaking the law of chastity by being immoral sexually. We all do others a huge favor by dressing modestly. Modest dress gives Satan less of an opportunity to tempt us. The number one way parents can teach their children to be modest is by example. When they go shopping encourage them to only buy modest outfits. Teach them the "why" don't just forbid immodest dress. Teens need to know the "why" or they are less likely to listen.
