Hi I'm Declan

I grew up in the Bay Area, I love life and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I ran competitively for ten years since I was eight years old. Competing in sports has been a huge part of my life. I have a large family, consisting of nine kids. I am the 6th child and feel blessed to have grown up in a large loving family in the gospel. I am an Eagle Scout, as are my three older brothers. I really enjoy being in the outdoors, whether its hiking, hunting, or exploring. I love to watch movies and listen to music. I love listening to full orchestras and choirs. I sang in my high school choir all four years and was in two choirs my junior and senior year. My love of music started when I played the saxophone in middle school. From there I learned to appreciate good, appropriate music. I loved making music in my choir class because I could feel the spirit as we sang such beautiful pieces. I am a freshman in college. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, playing cards or watching movies. I have enjoyed hiking and camping including a 65 mile backpacking trip to the top of Mt. Whitney. I am serving a mission for the next two years in the Salt Lake City West mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in large family that was centered in the church. I came to know for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I love the happiness that can be found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I continue to follow His gospel because I know that it is true and want to share it with others. I have seen the blessings in my family growing up and want those wonderful blessings for my family for generations to come. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God to restore His church on the Earth. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for the sins of the world and died so that we can one day return to live with our Heavenly Father. I know that the gospel can bless us in all aspects of our lives.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday of my life. Being a member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is who I am. I have always been involved with my church. Since I was a young I have attended church events for children and have continued to do so as I grew up. I was extrememly involved with my age group of boys. I was one of the youth leaders over the group and we spent a lot of time together. I grew to love the members of this group very much through our experiences and testimonies of the Gospel. My Father took me home teaching to a few families in the ward each month. I would often teach a short lesson and we would discuss the needs of the families and what we could do to help. We taught a widow in our ward for years and that was such a great experience listening to her stories, going over each month to talk and teach her. In college I served as one of the assistant leaders for my age group of men. I was also able to home teach 11 people while at school. Though the lessons were never very long I enjoyed serving and teaching the members of my ward.
