Hi I'm Hannah

I'm an outdoorsy girl from Washington State who loves life. I'm going to be a nurse. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Family is my number 1. I absolutely love spending time with my parents and siblings. We have the best times together, and I always look forward to big family gatherings because I know I will feel so loved, and my stomach will hurt from 1) eating so much and 2) laughing so much at my goofy brothers. I love music: singing, playing guitar or piano, and simply listening to all types of music makes me smile. Being physically active keeps me sane. I grew up playing sports in the front yard with my 6 brothers. In high school I fell in love with basketball and cross country, and I've taken that love to intramural sports teams in college. I'm a firm believer in having good running buddies to make life better -- most of my closest friends are also those friends that I run with. Other hobbies include photography, graphic design, hiking, going on walks, watching movies, watching sunsets, and reading good books. While at college, I am studying to be a nurse because I've always been fascinated by science, and love the satisfaction that accompanies helping other people.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending the Mormon church with my family. I was always taught to gain my own testimony (or witness of the truths of the church), so I wasn't going "because I had to." My parents encouraged us to experiment with living different teachings of the Church. During the years, I had experiences where I put my faith to the test, and questioned/explored certain doctrines of the Church. Without fail, I felt peaceful reassurance that the Church was a good fit for my life; it brought good friendships, but most importantly it provided many opportunities for me to learn about and draw closer to Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because of the peace it brings to my life. I take great comfort in knowing that Jesus Christ is my Savior and friend. I take great comfort in knowing that there is a prophet of God living on the earth today (just as in Biblical times), who receives guidance and direction to improve our lives. I take great comfort in knowing that I will be able to be together with my family throughout eternity. Most importantly, I am a Mormon because it brings happiness and true joy into my life :)

How I live my faith

I live my faith most by trying to be a good person. I try to emulate Christ's example in the way I interact with those around me. Honesty and integrity are very important to me, so I always work hard in my jobs and schoolwork. If I say I'm going to do something or be somewhere, you better believe I'm going to follow through. I love helping other people; this love came from many hours of service given to church assignments, and in community service. While in high school, I was the chair of a few different youth councils, in which we planned and ran weekly and annual events for the youth to enjoy and build friendships. I volunteered as a counselor at my middle school's outdoor education camp each year, which i abosultely loved. There's something special that comes from donating time and energy to sometimes-annoying 6th grade kids for a week. Since coming to college, I served in a leadership role, where I got to visit and directly serve several girls in my apartment complex. I also volunteered in 3 areas of our local hospital, and loved the interactions I had with patients. When I see a smile on someone's face because of a simple thing I've done, by giving my time and attention to them, it is beyond worth it.
