Hi I'm Debbie

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, I earn my living as a care home manager and Im a Mormon.

About Me

I qualified as a nurse back in 1980 and have worked off and on with older people ever since, in between bringing up my children. Now that they have grown up I enjoy travelling with my husband, usually somewhere hot, sunny and relaxing. I also enjoy anything to do with history and have become a bit of a medieval nerd but luckily its only part of who I am. I am also nanna to two fabulous little boys and they are the apple of my eye. I love spending time with them doing all the things that nannas do to spoil our grandchildren. I have been married twice and keep telling everyone thats Im still a newly wed...not bad for a lady of a certain age.

Why I am a Mormon

Why have I chosen to be a Mormon? At 15 it seeemed like a good idea as my best friend was a member, very soon, however, I had to make a serious study of what it really meant and if it was what I wanted in my life. It was and still is. In my most difficult times personally when I felt that nothing would be the same knowing that my Saviour loves me has been my rock and anchor in rough seas. Why do I continue to be a Mormon? It is because it is who I am and I could not imagine my life any other way. It brings me happiness and purpose for all that I do. It helps me try to be the best me I can be and if I dont quite get there or mess up it gives me a way to put things right and move on. It is often said that being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a 24 hour 7 day a week religion and that suits me just fine.

How I live my faith

I have been a Mormon since I was a teenager and have lived all over the place. Its great to know that no matter where I live or visit when I attend church its all familiar and always feels like Im amongst friends. I enjoy being part of anything to do with music, probably down to my Welsh background. I have been involved with teaching both adults and children but my favourite has to be when I taught the 14 to 18 year old youth, they are a great bunch of kids. All these experiences have helped me with all aspects of my life. Particularly transfering the skills Ive learned into my professional life which is about dealing with people some of which are going through some really difficult times.
