Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in Twin Falls Idaho. I am a wife and mother. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love creativity! I love to write stories and hope to one day finish a novel and get it published. I love doing DIY(do it yourself) projects and crafts. I love Disney Land and World. I used to work there in Orlando for a college internship in 2008. I love to eat healthily and exercise with my family. I love sunny spring days spent with my husband and son. I love to cook and weird as it might sound, I love to organize and clean my house when I get a chance because it makes me feel accomplished and keeps me from being too stressed. I love the outdoors! I love camping and swimming and just being in the sun!

Why I am a Mormon

All my life I've wanted to be a mother. After my husband and I got married we found out it was going to be harder than we thought for us to have children. Due to a medical condition, I have a hard time carrying a baby without going into premature labor. After losing our first child at 21 weeks, we went through another pregnancy and miraculously, our son was born to us only 6 weeks premature. Through this trying experience, we have grown closer as a family and closer to God. I don't know why our daughter wasn't supposed to endure this life, but I know God has a purpose for everything. While we were dealing with the heartache of losing our daughter, we were given so much comfort from the Lord. When so many things could have happened to make the experience even more bitter, we were able to see small miracles and blessings the Lord had given us. I've seen others outside of this gospel who have tried to go through trials on their own and without God's help. I can't imagine the heartache and the desolate feeling that I would feel without this gospel and having the eternal understanding that I will have my baby again one day. The reason that I am a Mormon is because of the hope that the gospel brings.

How I live my faith

I like to look for ways I can serve the people around me. People are always doing things for me, like opening the door for me when I have the stroller. Although it is often out of my comfort zone, I try to step in and help when I see a need or talk to someone who seems low. In the church I have the opportunity to be a missionary and help others to know more about the church and help them to come to know that they have a Father in Heaven that loves them. I try to be a good example to my son and everyone I meet by treating people with love and respect. I try to live the way our Savior Jesus Christ would want me to live by following His example.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Because it is a priesthood responsibility, the young men in the church are urged to go on a mission when they turn 18. Going on a mission is an important decision that should be made between a person and God. Going on a mission is a choice, not a requirement of members of the church, but the service of a mission brings many blessings to the missionary and the missionary's family. It is a life changing experience. Women are also invited to serve a mission if they wish. Show more Show less
