Hi I'm Abbie

I am a Mid-Westerner. I work at Boy Scout Camps across the USA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at Brigham Young Univerisity. I have previously worked at Boy Scout camps teaching anything from basketry to swimming to leading a COPE course. I love to hike and do just about anything outdoors, and my dream is to start a ranch for teenagers with behavioral disabilities. I have been called to serve in the Brazil Sao Paulo Interlagos mission beginning July 17th.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was baptized at age 8. I was converted when I was 16 years old. I was just starting to work at a Boy Scout camp in Kansas, where I grew up. I had never been away from home before and I didn't know anyone there. Three days into my first week there, my father called and said that my grandfather was dying. My grandpa is my hero. He is wonderful and kind and loving and brilliant and loved to listen to me play the piano. Needless to say, I was heartbroken. I cried and cried, but I heard a voice from my grandmother, the spouse of my dying grandfather, who had passed away on my birthday when I was 7. She comforted me and reassured me that I would see him again if I was faithful to the truth that I had been taught. Ever since then, I have had two guardian angels in the next life leading and guiding me and helping me to stay on the path so that I can return to see them again.

How I live my faith

I have been involved in the Young Women's program, a group for teenage girls 12-18, in various leadership positions while I was a teenager. In addition, I served as the congregation Organist for two years and taught Primary, Sunday school for children, for two months. Currently I am a Family Home Evening group leader and I organize Monday night activities for people in my group.
