Hi I'm Steve

I'm married to Helen, I own a business that runs Murder Mysteries, live in wonderfully Gothic Whitby and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to Helen with four great stepsons and four terrific grandchildren. I've lived in many places through England such as, Lymington, Hastings, Nottingham, BIdeford and have finally set down roots here in North Yorkshire. I love walking, camping and cycling, get in the odd bit of fishing here and there and love to read fiction and non-fiction. My true love is Science Fiction and Fantasy literature especially Chris Wooding and Peter F. Hamilton, as well as the greats such as Arthur C. Clarke and Isaac Asimov, also detective TV shows such as the Mentalist and Columbo. I love my family my life and my faith.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a man who is imperfect and makes mistakes, which is why the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon is so important in my life. As another testament of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon tells me that our Heavenly Father loves us all equally, despite our mistakes, and wants the best for us. The Book of Mormon tells us of the love of our Heavenly Father and how He and His prophets have taught us of the joy that is to be had in heeding their words. I came to the Church late in life, with the intent of proving them wrong, "How could any of this be true?", I told myself time and time again I read all about the Church just so that I could armed and ready with the ammunition to throw back at the Missionaries. Only for the one thing that I hadn't prepared for to happen. The feelings of the Spirit that came before I had even heard the what the Missionaries had to say, that just let me know in my heart that what I was going to hear would be the truth and that it would be my choice to take heed or not. So I took heed and began to learn and pray with an open mind and heart. My darling wife, who had been a member for the Church for more than 30 years, was able after many years of patience to hear the words that were the the hardest ones that I had ever had to say: "Sorry, you were right after all. I'm going to be baptized" I am a Mormon because I have a Testimony that our Heavenly Father wants us to be the best that we can be. Through His Son Jesus Christ he has given us an example to strive to follow He knows we will err, but like any loving Father He will meet us with open arms, with love and with forgiveness. He wants us to have this opportunity and offers it freely to all.

How I live my faith

I am a member of the Scarborough Ward of the Church and we are striving at the moment to build and grow a Church group in the beautiful town of Whitby. It is a wonderful thing to be part of a group of people striving to achieve the same goal, even more so when you know just how important that it is for everyone (even those who don't yet know about it!), it's exciting, challenging and just a little scary. The Church has been restored for normal everyday people, just like us, it's not a place for perfect people who have never made mistakes, it's a place for people to find comfort, solace and purpose.
