Hi I'm Jason

When I turned 25 I met the missionaries and found there is a purpose to life. I love my family & friends. And i'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 26 and I grew up without much knowledge of Jesus, I converted to the church of Jesus Christ in April 2012, I've recently quit my job to study before I leave on my mission to Greece. I love trying to help people find the truth about Christ and all that he has done for not just me, but all of us. I studied construction at college, I love sports, socializing and I love all of my friends and family, especially my dog Danny! Most importantly I love knowing the truth about Jesus and his teachings.

Why I am a Mormon

In 2011 I was very depressed about things I had done in the past, my family tried supporting me and giving advice but I wasn't getting any better, I felt as though no-one could help me with my situation so in the end I decided to pray for help and I promised God if I received an answer i'd look into religion and search for Him. Soon after two missionaries arrived at my door, thinking this may not have been a coincidence I arranged to meet with the missionaries a few days later, after six months and four baptismal dates I was finally baptized by a good friend the missionaries introduced me too. I loved my old way of life and found it really hard believing that if i'd be willing to give up the worldly ways of life i'd be happier. One of the missionaries said to me "you've just got to take that leap of faith and I promise you it'll be worth it." I'm glad to say it was the best decision of my life and I've never looked back! I've come to gain knowledge of Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven. Knowing that they both live is the best feeling ever! Also knowing that we will never be alone in all walks of life makes you so much happier, serving and trying to help others brings joy to my life and and seeing the change in people is such a blessing. I know that through Jesus Christ everyone can be happy in a world that isn't. Knowing I have a big brother in Him is the best thing anyone could ask for.

How I live my faith

I live near the London temple so i'm always at the visitors center talking to missionaries and trying to help them with investigators, being a convert it helps me to relate to others outside of the church. I have two callings right now, I help teach the youth in East Grinstead ward and arrange activities for the young single adults in the Crawley stake area. I'm active in my callings, attend church weekly, I study daily and pray always but what I try to do best is strive daily to improve and be better than I was the week before (I fail alot though) I love to learn of Christ, his teachings and all that surrounds his gospel. (I am now serving in the Greece Athens mission).

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jason
We believe that both the Bible and the Book of Mormon are Holy scripture that has come from our Heavenly Father, we study both as they are both witnesses of Jesus and his teachings. In the book of Ezekiel in the Bible it talks of two sticks, the stick of Judah and the stick of Joseph (Ephraim), we believe that those sticks are metaphors for both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. In the Bible God always spoke to his prophets through the Holy Ghost and revelation, the Bible deals with Jerusalem and was written on scrolls and finally translated by scholars. In the Book of Mormon it deals with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas, God also spoke and still speaks today through the Holy Ghost to his prophets, the Book of Morman was written onto gold plates and finally translated by Joseph Smith through the Holy Ghost. Are Mormons Christians?

Jason
Yes Mormons are Christians, the name of our church is called 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.' We recognize Jesus as our Lord and savior, his atonement came to pass so that we may return to live with him and our Father in Heaven again. We study both the Bible and the Book of Mormon as they are both witnesses of Jesus and his teachings. We try to follow Christs teachings so that we may improve ourselves and lifestyles to all those around us. Show more Show less
