Hi I'm Wana Lu

I am a Mother of 5, a grandmother of 20, and great-grandmother of 8. I love music and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My father came from Denmark at age 17. Met my mother in Loa, Utah. I am the fifth of seven children and grew up in the aftermath of the depression. My father raised sheep and ran a farm. We got our water from a well. I picked gooseberries and sold them for five cents a quart to earn a little extra money. I learned the value of integrity from my father. He was the most honest person I ever knew. I learned to work hard helping my mother and father. There was plenty to do to keep us all busy. A few days before my eighth birthday, my oldest brother was coming home to see me. He was riding his motorcycle and got in an accident. He died as a result of that accident. It was a difficult thing for my family to go through. I remember sitting on a floor in the back room of my aunt's house and cried all day long. My mother and father had gone to take care of the burial. It was a painful thing for me to deal with. He was buried on my birthday. I learned to play the piano and started playing in a band when I was thirteen years old. I never had any music to play from. I learned songs by hearing them and learned to play by ear. I have been involved in music my entire life. I have composed songs, and taught piano lessons to children. I have lead choirs and sang in choirs. I love how music makes people feel.

Why I am a Mormon

My father sacrificed much to join the church. I have wondered why I was blessed enough to have been raised in the church. My parents were very strong and faithful people who loved the Lord and served where ever they were called to serve. They served a mission as well in their later years. I have a gained a testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints as I have learned to live the principals taught. I have studied and prayed and followed the teaches taught to me and have found joy and peace in doing so. I have received an answer for myself that the Book of Mormon is true. I followed Moroni's promise and read and studied it and prayed for myself to know if it was true. The last prophet in the Book of Mormon said, "if ye shall ask with a sincere hear heart, with real intend, having faith in Christ, he wil manifest the truth of it unto you , by the power of the Holy Ghost, and by the power of the Holy Ghost, you may know the truth of all things." I know this to be true. I have had trials in my life, but by remaining close to the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have learned that I can recieve help and comfort through the grace and atonement of my Savior.

How I live my faith

I have used my music in my service in the church. I have directed choirs since I was first married. I have been the organist in our congregation off and on for over fifty years. I have composed music for plays and performances. I have served with the youth of our congregation, both the very young and the teens. I have presided over the women in our congregation, organizing the service given to these women and their families. I have served as a missionary with my husband five times. We have been in San Diego, CA, Nauvoo, IL, Birminham, AL Martin's Cove, WY, and currently Cove Fort, UT. I have served as a temple missionary in between each of these missions. Out of my five children, four of them have completed missions for our church. I have also had nine grand children who have served missions.
