Hi I'm Roy

I joined the church in 1962, I have spent a lifetime in the church not one single regret.

About Me

I worked on the rigs as a welder, starting in 1966. the rigs had not been long in the north sea at that time. I am the father of three sons, step father to six daughters, the sons and one step daughter like me are strong norwich city football suporters. My wife and I served a mission in Beirut,(Lebanon), then Paphos, (Cyprus) where we started a branch of the church, it is still in operation. We have sixteen grandchildren, two of them on missions at this time, one in England and one in Ghana My wife is a retired therapist and like me has spent most of her life in the church, joining in 1959.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church, having had the missionaries knock on my door, the message they had impressed me very much, and the more I lisened to the message the more I wanted to know. I read the book of Mormon and put the promise contained in Moroni chapter ten verses four and five to the test. (4 and when ye shall recieve these things ,I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true;and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you ,by the power of the Holy Ghist. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.) because of that promise faith has become sure and certain knowledge. I had one son die at the age of just under six months, the knowledge that I will see him again is a great comfort, though the pain still, lives with me. Also I know that my family can be together for all eternity, when we can live with our Father in Heaven. through obediance to his laws and ordinances.

How I live my faith

Naturaly much of my time is spent serving in the church, visiting other members of the church in their homes, also my wife and I are involved in helping out at a local school, helping students improve reading skills. Also with such a large family time is needed to help them, baby sitting, school runs, etc. ah the joys of family !!!! yes we love it.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

By the age of twelve years, I had read the bible and was familiar with its stories and events. When I read the book of mormon for the first time it complimented the stories of Jesus I had read in the new testament and increased my understanding and faith. yes I do believe the bible.
