Hi I'm Shelby

I'm a sister, daughter, and Journalism student. I am a born and raised Texan and love to smile. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student of broadcast journalism. I love to make people laugh and usually have a ridiculous smile on my face. I love volleyball, football, basketball, baseball, and track. I am the second of six children and love my family more than anything. I am a six year birthday twin with my younger sister. Zumba and running are a huge stress relief. Ice Cream is an essential part of life. I was raised in the country and have learned much through my parent's incredible example of hard work, perseverance, and love of everything I am blessed with.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are born and raised Mormons and raised all six of their kids in the gospel of Jesus Christ. While I was young I based my testimony off of my parent's but as I grew up I knew that I had to find out for myself whether or not I believed it was true. After much searching, studying, and praying I gained my own testimony that the church is true. After I knew that I continue to build my testimony everyday. My testimony can't remain where it is if I am not improving it then it is being wasted away. The gospel makes me a better person in every aspect of my life. It makes me happy and brings an immense sense of comfort, hope, and peace. I am a Mormon because I know the truth that God knows exactly who I am. I have in the past been mocked for being a Mormon and while feeling so lonely I have turned to God and he has comforted me and gave me a reassurance that I am not alone ever. He is always there for me regardless of anything. I know that Jesus Christ is an essential part of the plan of happiness and I know that through his atonement I can be cleansed of my sins. I am a Mormon because I know that through the beautiful plan that is put forth that I can return to live with my Heavenly Father again and be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving with many others specializing in service in my ward. Being an example to others is one of the biggest ways I try to live my faith. Serving others is a huge part of how I live my life, I try to put others in front of me at all times. I know that that God knows me personally and understand everything that life is bringing at me. Everyday I look for ways to strengthen my faith and recognize the many blessing I have been given. It is always a process and is being strengthened everyday.
