Hi I'm Maddy Collier

Currently serving a mission in the Tennessee Knoxville area. I love this gospel!

About Me

I was born into a family with two parents and three brothers. Even though I'm the only girl in my family, it's comforting to know that one day I'll have sisters in law. I have passions for the arts, for my family, for friends, and learning. I also love anything involving the outdoors - Skiing, hiking, camping, canoeing, you name it! I've finished one year of college, but am taking a break to serve an LDS mission. I never ever imagined myself serving a mission at age 19, but I am SO excited to serve, and can't wait to experience it. I have a love for people--meeting new people is one of my favorite things. I love to see things from other's perspectives, to talk for hours, anything involving people! I love this gospel so much!

Why I am a Mormon

I have always loved this gospel and the truths in it have always seemed to ring true to me. However, as I progressed, I realized in my teenage years that I needed to find out for myself if the church was a real thing sent from Heavenly Father. I love the feeling I get around members of the church, no matter if I'm in Ontario Canada or Pheonix Arizona. It's always one of selflessness, love and peace. The fellow members of the church I meet make me want to be a better person. I love my family. I want to be with them forever, and the church teaches that I can. Most importantly, I have a deep, unfailing relationship with my Savior. I know that Jesus Christ came to save the world through the power of the Atonement. He is my friend. He is my greatest example, and teaches me every day. I can not do anything without Him. Literally all that is good in this world can be related back and attributed to our Savior Jesus Christ. The relationship I've found through prayer and study is one that can not be put into words. When I was eight years old, and I went to Nauvoo, IL, where Joseph Smith lived. I remembered the strong assurance I had as I walked the streets where these early members lived and sacrificed all they had, I knew that their efforts and losses were not in vain. I had a deep feeling that Joseph Smith was an ordinary man, called to do extraordinary things, and through extreme patience and determination, became a chosen servant of God. I knew that because I felt so strongly about him as a man of God, that the book he translated must have been through the power of God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying and communicating with my Father in Heaven daily, and thus always trying to be a better person. I live it by going to church with a willing heart, prepared to learn. I live my faith by serving others, such as by playing hymns on my violin for those who would like to hear, or lend a helping hand to my friends or neighbors. I live it by sacrificing certain things I want, like sleep, money, and self-indulgence.
