Hi I'm Katie

I love life. I'm a cellist, an adventurer, a student, and soon, a missionary. I love making people happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah and have had a pretty great life so far. I love music--especially the cello. I also love having fun with friends and new people. I like to try new things and explore new places. Climbing trees and rocks and waterfalls is always fun, especially when you can jump off of them into the water. I was able to go to Guatemala on a humanitarian trip and loved helping people and seeing different lifestyles. Travelling can be pretty amazing. I love to laugh and have fun with my family too. I went to school in Virginia and absolutely loved it, and now I'm preparing to serve a full-time mission in the California San Jose mission. My family will be moving to Florida while I'm gone, so I get to come home to a different kind of adventure!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church, but I continue to follow Christ's gospel because I know it's true. It makes sense. It's been such a main part of my life that I can't imagine living without it. If I didn't know that I could pray for help and comfort, or for guidance in making a big decision, or just for something like being able to be patient, life would be a whole lot harder. Being a Mormon just makes me happy, even if things are going wrong. I know that my family can be together forever, and that makes all the difference sometimes. Being a Mormon gives me hope. I know that God loves us, so even if I make mistakes, I can repent and he will forgive me, and I will have the chance to live with him again. I love that there is a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who guides us and directs us. He is God's mouthpiece on the earth. You can feel it when he speaks. I also love the Book of Mormon so much. When I read it and study it, it somehow makes everything better. It can help me feel the spirit and it answers my questions. There's so much about this gospel that I love, and it does nothing but make my life better. I want to share it, so other people can feel as happy as I do.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others. I have had the opportunity to visit two different young ladies in my ward every month and teach them, talk to them, and listen to their problems and concerns. I can help them if they need it, or just be someone they can talk to. In a few weeks, I will be living my faith by sharing it with others as a missionary. It's something that I treasure so much, and I want to help others be able to experience it too. I will continue to serve people while I'm there. It's just such a great way to feel good and help other people feel good too.
