Hi I'm Les

I live in the beautiful Peak District of England. I'm a husband, dad and granddad. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I married my childhood sweetheart on her 20th birthday and we were baptised as Mormons a few months later. We have three children and four grandchildren. I enjoy a variety of outdoor pursuits including walking, canoeing, growing my own vegetables (with varying degrees of success) and looking after my small flock of Charollais sheep. I still enjoy camping for holidays although nowadays prefer the warmer climbs of Southern France. I have had a number of career positions including a fire fighter, prison officer and for the past twenty years or so have been a teacher and headteacher and now work as an educational consultant.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when I learned of the doctrines of the church, belief in God and His Son Jesus Christ, belief in the Holy Spirit, modern day prophets to guide us, prayer leading to personal revelation, families that can be together through the eternities, morality and honesty it all seemed to fit together like a jig-saw with all the pieces complete. Asking God through prayer confirmed this to me and guidance through personal prayer and from church leaders has been a source of strength to me over the years that I have been a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Along with my wife and youngest son I attend church each Sunday morning where I enjoy participating in the services and also teaching classes to both youth and adults., We have no paid ministry and therefore I have had many opportunities over the years to organise a variety of events, including social ones, usually involving food, and to assist with services speaking on gospel topics to the congregation. As a Mormon I have been able to develop talents through church service as well as using skills from my occupations to help. We also have the opportunity to visit other members of our congregation and to provide service when needed. Helping gives to me a sense of belonging and self worth and is also great fun.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?
