Hi I'm Mary

I'm an American living in Scotland. I enjoy traveling and reading. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an American and have been living in Scotland for the past 5 years. I enjoy traveling and I even used to work on cruise ships. We're an international family! My mother is Puerto Rican. My husband Venezuelan. His parents are Portuguese and our son was born in Scotland. We love being different! I love reading and it is probably my most favorite thing to do. I enjoy most genre's and I'm always up for trying something new. Someday I'd like to write a novel myself. I'm a Mom. I have one son who is 2 yrs old. I love being a stay-at-home Mom. It's the hardest most wonderful thing I've ever done in my life. We hope to have more children someday soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to have parents who taught me about Jesus Christ and to try my best to be like Him. As a teenager I learned quickly to stand up for my beliefs and that it was okay to be me. I came to know, through prayer and scripture study, that Jesus Christ atoned for my sins and shortcomings. I have felt the sweet peace of forgiveness. No matter how hard life gets, and it does get hard, I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father who will answer my prayers. I remember being 12 years old and I was feeling very lonely. I knelt to pray and asked if I could just know that He was there. I immediately felt like I was being embraced in the most wonderful hug I could ever ask for. I knew He was there. I knew He was listening. I knew He'd always be listening. I'm a Mormon because I believe in modern day revelation. I believe that God speaks to His people today just as He did in the Bible.

How I live my faith

10 years ago, this November, I went into the Missionary Training Center to train to be a missionary. I served in the California Santa Rosa Mission and think of it every day. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to share the gospel with those around me. It helped me to see the importance of why I am here on earth and what I need to do to live with my Heavenly Father again. I decided to be a missionary because I felt forgiveness through The Atonement and I wanted other's to have that as well. I am now working with the youth program and I love it. I've only just begun but I love this age and all the fun activities. When I was a youth in the church, I learned how to make good decisions and stand up for the things I believe in. I hope to help the youth do the same. I also volunteer my time at my local library. I donate lots of books to the Teen program there and help choose up and coming titles I think they will enjoy. This fall I will be giving a seminar all about blogging and how to write book reviews. I'm very excited!
