Hi I'm Pernille

I am from Denmark, I moved to Sweden became a wife! .......oh and I'm a Mormon. ;)

About Me

I am a happy girl. I was always the only LDS in my school, but friends knew what I stand for and they respected me for it. They even knew that they could come to me if they didn't want to drink and that I would help them be strong in their decision. I went out as a missionary to the United States, which was a really cool experience. Missionaries are normal people like myself :) I was a missionary in Salem Oregon and on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. Now I am married to a Swedish guy and we currently like in Sweden. It is so cool to see and feel that no matter what LDS church I go to, it's the same! Just that alone, should say something about this Church! God is the same, today, yesterday and tomorrow... and in all his gathering places for the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I believe it, live it and love it! My life would be so empty without the calming feeling I get from the Holy Spirit of God. It gives me peace and perpose in my life. I know the meaning of life on earth and it gives me a longer perspective that helps me through hard times. Why are you not mormon? :)

How I live my faith

My faith is a part of me. Most choices I make is very much automatic and go along with the teachings of Christ. Of course I am not perfect and at times I am not sure what is the right thing to do, but I can always find answers as I turn to God. I love all the "rules" that God gave us through prophets. They really make us free, they allow us to give and be our best selves. Think about it, smoking, does that give you freedom or does it bind and control? Exactly, it doesn't give freedom but makes one in constant need of a substance. Very sad. So if you look at all the commandments/"rules" you'll see that they are all there to make your life easier!

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Pernille
I think it's wrong to compare in so many details. We have basic differences as men and women. I think it comes down to understanding what the priesthood is. The priesthood doesn't make the man better than the woman. It helps men to be better and develop emotional skills like compassion and ready to serve at all time. A man holding the priesthood can not give himself blessings or anything, it is purely so he can serve and bless others. He has much more responsability than a man who doesn't have the priesthood. The women on the other hand, has also been entrusted with a "hood". Motherhood! That is something the men can't ever have. The responsability of the priesthood makes them WANT to be better, to be good fathers, to look for ways to help at home and outside the home, willing to lift where there is a need and so on.... I am so happy about being a woman, for having the potentail of mothering a child, to have a miracle happening inside my womb, that my husband will never fully understand or ever feel. I will have a stronger bond to all the children I will help into this world. Priesthood and motherhood help us to feel the true love of God, it gives us purpose, it is what prepare us and makes us more like a Father in Heaven. We will understand him and his plan for us, his children, as we take our God-given "hoods" in use to grow and become more like him. That's my belief and understanding. I hope you understand how men and women are equal, in their different ways. Show more Show less
