Hi I'm John Catron

I am a Mormon, father, husband, lawyer and sinner. I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer.

About Me

I love newspapers, running, white water rafting, learning, history and my family. I enjoy the outdoors and God's creations. I am inspired by the talent of others and the service they do - one for another.

Why I am a Mormon

The best things about my faith: We believe that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. We believe that all must follow Christ's teachings and example. We believe that we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God and can return to God only through the mercy and love of the Savior. We believe that we can save ourselves only through helping to save others. We don't have a paid clergy. Most all meetings are run by volunteers for volunteers. People at all levels help each other. Oftentimes, the most "learned" learn the most from the least "learned" All donations are strictly private. At times my mind struggles with the seeming impossibility of what Christians and Mormons profess - the virgin birth, the miracles, that God can trust imperfect men to run his church, that we can all live again, that someone else could pay for my sins, that God permits so much suffering... but as I read the Bible and Book of Mormon the words speak to my heart and soul and testify that all things are divine and true and part of the Gospel plan to test us and purge us and allow us to learn by faith. And that testimony has been confirmed as I have prayed to God for guidance. Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and ye shall find....

How I live my faith

The message of our faith is too follow the Savior and do as he would. I find this both challenging and empowering. I often need to behave differently that my first instinct might suggest. I must forgive as he forgave and show mercy as he showed mercy. I find the need to repent daily of what I do that falls short of what the Savior expects of me. Th8s empowers me as it helps me to work on my many weaknesses.
