Hi I'm Scott Spencer

Im a husband, father of five great boys and a firefighter. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Grimsby, Lincolnshire with my parents, brothers and sister. After marrying my beautiful geordie wife, she persuaded me to move to County Durham where we now live along with our five wonderful and very active sons. I love, and live for my family! I'm a firefighter and love to be active, both at work and home . I spend most of my free time with my family, either at our allotment, playing in the woods or exploring new places to get dirty! I love to spend our summers camping and on the beach.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon by my parents. Although I was taught and directed by my parents, my upbringing did not convert me to 'Mormonism' or give me an assurance that the true gospel of Jesus Christ was on the earth...I had to find and learn this for myself. Throughout my life I have continued a careful study of the scriptures, prayed sincereley and tried my best to apply the principles I have learned. Through this process I have learnt for myself, through the feelings of warm reassurance and confirmation of the holy spirit, that the gospel of Jesus Christ is on the earth in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church is the only organization which has the answers, power and authority to seal my family together and show me how to lead my family back to our Heavenly parents. As I live the teachings of Jesus Christ, and my standards as a Mormon, I continue to feel the same reassurance that I am doing the right things. Things that are acceptable to God. I feel peace and contentment in my life. I feel love, closeness and trust within my family. I feel the calm, quiet reassurance that God and Jesus Christ live and love me. I feel blessed to know that one day, if I continue to be faithful and obedient, I can be with Them and my family for ever.

How I live my faith

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ! The most important application of my faith is in our home. I try to be the kind of husband and father that Jesus Christ has taught me to be. We gather each day as a family to pray and study the scriptures...which, with our boys, is always eventful! I have had wonderful opportunities in the church to serve others. I love to teach and attend activities with the youth, and to visit the families I am assigned to care for as a 'home teacher'. I enjoy talking to others about the gospel of Jesus Christ...we have some great conversations at work! My faith is not so much about the many religious responsibilities which could be done. My faith is more about trying to continually change each day to become a better man. The kind of man who can one day return to my Heavenly parents, and have my family with me for eternity.
