Hi I'm Shelby

I became a member of the church when I was a freshman in college. I love life and everything it has to offer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a full-time student and will be graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Health Science. Both science and people amaze me, so I have hopes of combining these two passion into a career involving patient care. I grew up with a love for sports, especially soccer. I played both club and varsity during my 4 years of high school. I am also a band nerd. I picked up my first instrument when I was 10 and haven't stopped playing or learning new instruments since. I did marching and concert band through high school and into my freshman year of college. I love to try new things and meet new people. I'm always up for a challenge or an adventure. Life is what you make it!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know in my heart, soul and mind that it is true. I have lived and applied these truths I have learned and have never felt more joy and peace. I investigated the church for a year before I knew it to be true. During this time I attended a semester of seminary my senior year, and then two semesters of institute in college. My testimony slowly grew without me realizing. I had many questions about the gospel and the way God works. I found that in my attendance to this church and it's activities, I learned the answers to any and all questions that I had. It all made sense and I remember lightbulbs turning on in my head as I realized the truthfulness of the gospel and the restoration of the true church of Jesus Christ. When I listened to General Conference for the first time before I had been baptized, I remember hearing and believing every word that was spoken by the Prophet Thomas S. Monson and General Authorities. I knew these were men of God and that what they spoke was true. I gained a great respect for the Prophet Joseph Smith as I learned about his life and sacrifices. I don't know of any man that would endure all that he did for a lie. I know that he was commissioned by God to restore the gospel to the Earth today. I love this gospel and I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know He gave his life for us all because He loves us. He is my Comforter, Mentor, Brother, and Friend. I am a Mormon because it is the best and only way I know how to reach my full potential and become like my Heavenly Father. Being Mormon makes me happy.

How I live my faith

Faith is about acting. It is the way you live your life privately and the way you see and treat others. In the church I live my faith through my calling on the Institute Council and through being a friend to everyone that walks through the doors. Personal scripture study and prayer are foundational and gives us the love, strength and knowledge to avoid the bad and do good unto others. As I live my faith and diligently work to learn and emulate that which is of my Savior, Jesus Christ, I know I will lead a happy and blessed life. It is my wish that all the ones I love will come to know this joy and lead the happiest and most blessed life they can.
