Hi I'm Pete Kuhlmann

I was born in Miami, Florida. I currently live in Utah and work as a county Emergency Manager. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been employed as a Sheriff's Deputy, Fire Chief and Emergency Medical Technician for over 30 years. I enjoy the outdoors and love to spend time in the mountains, hiking, hunting, fishing and camping. I have been married for over forty years to the love of my life and we love to travel cross country and to the national parks on our motorcycle. When our children were younger we visited Yellowstone National Park every year to hike, bike and fish. We have six wonderful children and 24 beautiful and talented grandchildren. .

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because God still talks to men, even men like me. I was raised a Mormon but in my teen years I drifted away and made some poor decisions. I believed the church was true but had not really done the work to test its teachings and find out for myself. After I got married, I decided to put Mormonism to the test. I felt that it was time for me to invest the necessary time and effort to study and ask God if the precepts taught in the Book of Mormon were true. I began with prayer and read the book from cover to cover. Before I read, I asked God to tell me whether or not what I was studying was true. I was converted as the words of deceased prophets spoke to me from the dust. The stories were powerful, the precepts spoke of peace, values, and concepts which if applied would change the world. They bore testimony of the Savior in powerful words and in an undeniable spirit. When I completed my study, I knelt and asked for a confirmation as to the truthfulness of what I had just read and studied. The answer was clear. The Book of Mormon was true, Jesus Christ is the Savior of all mankind. Through the whispers of the spirit, the warmth of God's love, I knew. I have had many additional witnesses since that time, as God has reconfirmed that first testimony. I have seen His hand in my life in many ways and have been privileged to have been an instrument in His hands in helping others as he has prompted me to see a need and guided my actions. I testify that He lives; that we are His children and that He both knows and loves each of us. He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, so that we could seek repentance for our errors, follow Christ's example and someday return to Him. I look forward to that day when I can thank Him and accept His judgement. I pray each day that I can live the remainder of my days keeping His commandments, leading others to Him and serving His children.

How I live my faith

I believe that the best way to live as the Savior did is to serve those around us, just as He did. I have volunteered in service in both the church and in my community. I have served in almost every local capacity in the church and have taught first aid, preparedness, rescue skills and volunteered as a search and rescue member and volunteer firefighter.
