Hi I'm Tessa Carter

I love my family, playing sports, being active and meeting new people. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I come from a family of two awesome parents, 3 older sisters and 1 older brother. My parents are both converts to the church. I am so lucky to have the parents I do, they have truly helped shape the person I am today and have taught me so many valuable things I will use throughout my life. I am extremely close to my siblings. They are a blast and I love them so much. Two of my sisters are, unfortunately, inactive. To tell you a little bit about myself, I am a fun loving, outgoing person, and absolutely love the game of basketball. Loved every minute of playing in high school and then worked extremely hard to try to play at the college level. I attended college for a year and a half and then made the decision to serve a mission! I have been called to serve in the Brisbane, Australia Mission and report April 2013. I have a sincere and true desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am the first ever to serve in my family and am so excited for this opportunity to not only learn and grow individually and share my testimony and experiences with my family, but to bring eternal happiness into the lives of the people in Australia. I already know the decision to serve a mission is the greatest choice I have ever made thus far and I can't wait to get out there and invite others to come unto Christ! I am the most happy I have ever been in my entire life and I know it is because when we strive to live the gospel the best we can, our loving Heavenly Father blesses us beyond measure.

Why I am a Mormon

I am not a convert to the church, but I feel that every member in the gospel has somewhat of a conversion story. Growing up, I leaned on my parents testimonies and the good feelings I received by going to church. As I went through high school, my friends slowly began to give into temptation. It was a trying time because I had to choose to either join them or stand alone. Right then and there I decided for myself how I wanted to live my life. I began to work on my relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ because I would need them more than ever to help me through. I chose to stand alone and choose the right even though it was difficult. I know Heavenly Father is always there for us no matter what. I know if we pray, with true sincerity, He will answer our prayers. I know that God and Jesus Christ live. In Alma 32:21 it reads, “And now as I said concerning faith-faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.” I know they are there and hear me. They are real and love each and every one of us with a love we will never comprehend in this life. I don’t need to physically see Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ to make me believe, I rely on the feelings I have felt from the Holy Ghost that testify they live. I am so grateful for Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrifice that allows us to repent and be forgiven of our sins so we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again one day. I know this church is true. It brings me the most happiness and joy I have ever felt. I know that temples are the house of the Lord. I know that families can be sealed together for time and all eternity. I know modern day prophets are men of God. I know the Book of Mormon is true and was translated by the prophet Joseph Smith by the power of God. I know all these things to be true with all my heart and pray for you to earnestly seek the truth for yourself. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I attend a young single adult ward and my calling is to weekly temple trips. By attending the temple each week, I learn so much and get spiritually re-charged. I am reminded of what's really important in this life and going so often helps me keep my goals and priorities focused. I also go with the missionaries and teach people who are investigating the church and members who have recently been baptized. The spirit that accompanies these lessons is so powerful. I love sharing my testimony with them and seeing them learn and progress as they pray about and study the gospel. I live my faith by striving to serve and love everyone. Christ teaches to love thy neighbor as thyself and serve one another. Christ led by example and that is what I try to do as well. I strive to see others as Christ see's them, for who they truly are and the intents of their hearts. I am not perfect, no one is, but I put forth my very best effort to become more like my Savior each and everyday.
