Hi I'm Alex Monroe

I was born and raised in Southern California, now a full-time missionary in Iowa. I love people, places, food, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of four daughters. My family is everything to me. I discovered at a young age that I love helping people to grow, a love which led me to become a babysitter, and then a nanny. I absolutely love watching how a child's view of the world, and ability to interact with it can be changed and affected so quickly by the things they learn from us. I believe that children are a precious gift from our Father in Heaven. I've also found a life long passion in cooking. I love that by creating something, I can bring other people joy. I love serving others, as Christ would, and helping them feel the love that He has for them. These are the things that bring me fulfillment and happiness. I am currently serving in the Hamilton/Carthage/Nauvoo area of the Iowa Des Moines Mission, and absolutely loving it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who are members of the church, so it was naturally introduced to me. From the time I was very young, I was taught the truths of the gospel. I was baptized at the age of 8, and as I grew into my youth, I came to a point where I had to find my own testimony of those things which had been taught to me. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has always meant so much to me. The principles, doctrines, and beliefs of the church have given me a strong, positive foundation to build my life on. When I actively follow the gospel, I am blessed and happy, and that is why I choose to live it. I would not be who, where, or how I am without the gospel in my life. My knowledge of God's plan and love for me, and the power of Jesus Christ's atonement in my life has changed everything in such an incredible way. I am serving a mission so that I can have the opportunity to share this with others, and help them experience the joy that the gospel has given me. It is such a gift.

How I live my faith

I believe that living my faith means trusting in my Savior, and in my Father in Heaven, even and especially when things get hard. This Gospel has given me a deep and abiding knowledge of who I am, why I am here, and where I am going after this life. Because of this knowledge, I am able to stand strong in the face of trial and affliction. I do not have to wonder whether God loves me or cares about me, I know that He does and always will. This doesn't mean that my life is without difficulty, sorrow, or question, but that I come out of such times with greater strength and perspective. In this gospel, there is peace and joy, no matter your circumstances. It has always been so important to me to share who I am, and what makes me so happy. Because of my faith, I've had many opportunities to help others. Through my youth, I participated in many service projects. I have been able to help others, be a part of keeping my community clean, and offer free child care to numerous families in need. The light that the gospel gives me is something that I always strive to show and share. Serving a mission gives me the opportunity to share the message of Jesus Christ with everyone, everyday. I've left family, friends, and school behind to give this time to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I love this gospel, and I see the joy it brings others everyday as they too learn of its truth.
