Hi I'm Tom

I'm a trumpet player, husband, grandfather, sales manager, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of two beautiful daughters and am experiencing the joy of grandchildren. While my career as a sales manager is fulfilling and provides for our needs, my family relationships, church service, and trumpet playing are what truly enrich my life. I am the lucky husband of a beautiful wife who is also a musician and who understands and supports the choice to make musical performance a significant part of our lives. We play together in jazz bands and in pit orchestras for many musical theater productions throughout the year. We cherish the friends that we have made of fellow musicians over the years while playing for a wide range of musical events. In fact, It is through music that I have felt the most significant spiritual experiences throughout my life. I enjoy boating, water skiing, snow skiing, and flying radio controlled airplanes. I love traveling in the western united states. Spending time in the rocky mountains, southwestern states, or on a warm beach are my choice of the ideal outdoor activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the doctrines of the Mormon Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that I have been greatly blessed because of my membership in the church. While I was raised in the church, there came a time when I had to make my own decision about my church membership and gain my own testimony or belief. For me that time came at the age of 16. Through prayerful study of the Book of Mormon then, and throughout my life since, I have come to know of its truthfulness and authenticity. Many of the questions I have about life have been answered by careful study of the Book of Mormon together with the Bible. It's a matter of feeling. I have learned to trust the inspiration that comes through feeling- that calm assurance that something is right and true. I am a Mormon because I feel that I am in the right place with the right knowledge that will guide me home to our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith throughout the week, not just on Sunday. I have often been amused at my friends' reaction to the time commitment that I, and most other Mormons, make to fulfill assignments in our local congregations. Regular church service is a key part of my life and I feel great satisfaction in serving others no matter what the assignment. I have enjoyed serving as a Sunday School teacher to various age groups from preteen to adults. I have had many other responsibilities and always serve where I'm asked by church leaders who make the assignments. While I try to serve others, I am probably the one who benefits the most. Starting with my service as a missionary in Brazil and throughout my life since then, I have learned that service is truly nourishing to the soul.
