Hi I'm Tanner

I was born and raised in Arizona. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a high school student and I am now preparing to serve a mission in Brazil. Someday, I plan on becoming a software engineer (computer programmer) and often times this is what I do in my spare time. I am also working on getting my Eagle Scout rank.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church and my parents have worked to help teach my siblings and I about the Gospel. I have learned for myself through the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. That same Spirit has testified to me that this Gospel is true and that it is restored from Christ's day. I have felt that it is true, and I cannot deny it.

How I live my faith

I try my best to live according to my faith. I help teach and lead a group of young men my age (16-18 years old). I am also a home teacher and try to teach the families in my area that have been assigned to me and my home teaching companion.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith is not the head of our Church. Instead, Jesus Christ is the head of our Church and Joseph Smith was his prophet, the one charged with being God's mouthpiece to guide the Church to do God's will. We believe Joseph Smith to have been a prophet called of God, just as the prophets of ancient times, and to have been a strong and mighty man, but no, we do not worship him. We worship God and his Son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Absolutely. We regard the Bible to be Holy Scripture. Over thousands of years, however, it has been translated time and time again and part of this holy scripture has been altered from the form God originally intended. Due to this, we believe the Bible to be the word of God so long as it has been translated correctly. Also, with such true scripture, why are there thousands of different Christian churches that teach different principles? This is where the Book of Mormon comes in. Many people believe that Mormons replace the Bible with the Book of Mormon, but this is simply not true. The Book of Mormon is here to have another testament of Jesus Christ, so that between it and the Bible, we can discover what is true doctrine. Just like you can draw an infinite number of lines through one dot (the Bible), we can only draw ONE line through two dots (the Bible and the Book of Mormon). Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Simply: no. All political party platforms contain values that can be found in the Church. Members are urged to take part in their society, to vote and make their voices heard, but the Church endorses no political party. You will find members of the Church to also be members of various political parties, from Democratic to Republican to Libertarian to Green Party and more. Show more Show less
