Hi I'm Mitchell Thayne

I grew up in Utah. I love the people in my life. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have had the awesome chance to be raised in two completely different types of lifestyles. On one hand, I have been able to help work on and run my family ranch. That work and lifestyle helped me learn hard work. That also really got me involved in everything from riding horses to hunting to farming to building fences, but the contrast comes in because I live in the city a few hours away from the ranch. So I love to play soccer, I listen to all sorts of music, I chill with friends and sort of do my thing! Soccer is something I have absolutely loved to do! I didn't start playing the sport till I was in 9th grade. It took a lot of hard work and outside practice but I got the hang of it. Before soccer I did Jui Jitsu for ten years. I loved that as well! Instead of the normal little league sports most parents had their kids do I was able to learn how to defend myself.. Which is pretty rad if you ask me. When I was younger I played piano for about four years! The sad thing is I only practiced about four months worth! Now that I look back I really wished I had worked harder at it! I love my family and friends and I love to try new things! Loving people and living life the right way by living the gospel is what it's all about!

Why I am a Mormon

The way we are taught and encouraged to live really brings true happiness. I have found through experience that people generally try to look towards the wrong things to make them happy. They look into the temporary and hope to find joy. I tried looking toward other things that contradicted the gospel and what I knew to be right, but honestly all that brought me was unhappiness. So through choosing to reject those things that weren't right I was able to make some changes and really put myself back into the gospel, and I plan on always staying here. Nothing that the world can offer will ever bring happiness that can compare to the joy I feel by being a part of this church. I know that the basic principals taught in the church are guidelines to how to have a happy life. Over time I have been able to develop a testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith. Through him the Lord was able to restore His gospel on the earth once more, and bring about the means by which man can obtain his salvation. Jesus Christ is our savior and I have felt the power of His sacrifice that free's us of our sins. I am going to go serve my mission in South Africa and I have already felt a love for the people there that I never knew I could have for someone I have never even met. I want them to feel the love and joy that comes through living this gospel. We can gain savation if we live this way! So why wouldn't we? I know this church is true without a doubt and that God is our Heavenly Father and that he loves us.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve an LDS mission in the Cape Town, South Africa Mission! I have wanted to go on a mission my entire life, so I know that this is an experience that I am going to take advantage of. I am going to go out swinging and work hard for the two years I am there. I have had an awesome chance to help serve in a group of kids that are my age and organize events and service for those who are around us in the community. The thing about the LDS church is that you need to be actively engaged in doing good. Just serving, loving and helping each other! The church has helped me be able to engage in a lot of that. I also speak at my church in front of a few hundred people at a time, and am asked to teach groups of others lessons on different aspects of the gospel, so all these experiences have really helped me develop into a man much faster than I could have any other way. I love the gospel and I know it is true, I have really got to live it and try living without it, and I know that the best way to be happy is by loving the Lord and obeying his commandments.
