Hi I'm Michelle

I grew up in Salt Lake City. I am a student at BYU-Idaho and I love it. I can't wait to become a social worker.

About Me

I am a student at BYU-Idaho. I am working on becoming a Social Worker. I want to work with kids who are in Foster Care. I worked two jobs to be able to come here for school. I saved for over a year and finally had enough money in my savings for me to feel comfortable leaving home and going to school. There is 10 people in my family so we have a typical Mormon family. There are six biological kids and two who are adopted. I love spending time with my family, camping, watching movies, country dancing, and just having fun with my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church and grew up in Utah. And being from Utah I felt like I had to live up to a certain standard. I didn't want to have to live up to that standard sometimes so I didn't. I didn't have the best friends and didn't always make the best decisions. I always just figured there was other Mormons in my school that could be a better example of what a Mormon was. I went to seminary and went to church I didn't act like I wasn't Mormon at school but I didn't necessarily act like I was. If you saw me with my friends you probably wouldn't have guessed I was a member just because of the reputation they had. If I was asked about the Church I would talk about it, I never tried to hide that I was a Mormon. I look back now though, at some of the friends I had and some of the things I did and I know that I am much better off not doing what I had been doing. I didn't have to exactly turn my life all the way around and fix my ways. But I did have to change my ways a little bit. And when I lost my friends from High School it gave me the opportunity to look at where I wanted to be. I am still working my way up to where I want to be and to become the person I should be. When I lost my friends it tested my faith a lot. I asked why God would take away all the friends I hung out with. Along with the opportunity to see where I wanted to be it also gave me the opportunity to make new and better friends then what I had. God sent me an amazing group of friends. They are the biggest example to me. They showed me what it really meant to be happy and to enjoy life and how to do it while living the ways of the gospel. I know this church is the true Church. It can sometimes be hard to live the way we should. But when we do we are so much happier. I'm proud to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Right now I am called to be a historian. That means I go to activities and take pictures of what we do. I attended seminary in High School and loved it. I loved being in the Young Woman's program before I turned 18. I always tried my best to be an example to those around me. Especially the younger girls. I haven't always made the right decisions. But I know when I am doing what I'm supposed to do I am much happier.
